The Year of the Woman: 2018

Posted on: January 8, 2018

Happy New Year my Loves!

This is my first entry for 2018. It’s been a long time since I last posted. I took the last few months of 2017 to reassess and just take time for myself. The time away gave me a chance to gain clarity, think and just clear my head from everything that was going on in my life. Sometimes, we need to take a step back, reassess and gain perspective of everything as a whole. The latter half of 2017 was a challenging time for me, as a whole and  I needed to take time for myself.  But I guess as the saying goes,  Fall seven times and on the eighth time pick yourself up. In life, we may fall but we have to find the strength within ourselves to get back up. It won’t be easy, but it can and must be done.

I’m titling this entry as “The Year of the Woman” because I believe that 2018 will be that year. Well, at least for me. As I look back at 2017, I can honestly say it was one of the most challenging, tough and trying years in my life. There were good times, bad times, some growth and set backs. As I look forward to 2018, I see this year as the year that I will rise. Rise from everything that happened in 2017 and grow from it all. I’ve definitely learned a lot from 2017, about myself and as a whole. We may not like what it may lead to, but hopefully we can find peace, positivity and goodness in whatever may lie ahead.

Life can surely throw us some unexpected curveballs, and as hard as they may be, we have to try to keep pushing forward. From personal experience, it hasn’t been an easy time. But day by day I’m trying and not giving up. What keeps me going? The support, love and care from family and friends has been comforting and helpful during this time. But the two main things that have helped me get through my days is God and my faith. My faith in God has helped me through each and every day. Has it been easy, no, but I’m still alive and living. Each day is a blessing, and everyday I count my blessings and thank God for granting me the ability to see another day.

If you’ve seen lately on my Instagram (@SocialFashionistaBeauty) I’ve posted photos that provide inspiration, strength, encouragement and empowerment. Not just for myself but for all. My goal is to still  inspire, empower and enlighten you all through the lenses of beauty, style, life and much more. I’ll also be adding a new series to the blog called: Soul Sundays. Where I’ll be sharing more about myself and all things goodness for the soul. If you saw my most recent Insta stories you would have seen me share something that’s been a huge part of me that many don’t know. It’s been a passion of mine for many years. I’m taking it back to my roots. It took a lot of courage from me to share it with you. I shared a cover song that I’ve been working on for some time. I’ll post the song and my thoughts for this coming Soul Sunday series. I’ve been singing and writing music ever since I was a child. Music and singing has always been part of me and I find it very therapeutic. I’d like to share more of my love for music, feel good moments and just some goodness for the soul.

Mottos and Phrases for 2018:

You are unstoppable

Resilience in the face of adversity

We can’t always see the path ahead, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

Be Fearless

The year of the woman

Don’t just be good, be great

Year of Growth

Always evolving

Good Vibes

Watch me rise in 2018

This year is all about being: bold, fearless, stronger, determined, fierce, limitless, brave and even more independent. This year will be a year of growth and continuing to evolve in all aspects of life. What I’ve learned through all this, life will throw us curve balls, there will be challenges, but we can’t allow these times to define who we are.  We are allowed to have have ups and downs, it’s normal and natural, we’re human. But we can’t allow it to get the best of us. Through all this as hard as it has been, I’ve learned to forgive myself and others and try to have faith and believe in God. Letting go of any worries, doubts and negativity and let God take care of the rest. I’m learning and trying to find peace within myself and as a whole. With God and my faith, I take the word with me through my days and life. I have faith that God is always watching over us and will guide us through it all. All we have to do is trust and believe it. I hope 2018 brings us all happiness, love, blessings and so much more.

The upside through all this, I finally finished my Masters Certification program in Digital Business + Finance and Marketing. It’s been a long time coming and I finally accomplished that. It definitely wasn’t easy, but I buckled down, focused and got it done. I, thank God for helping me get through it all. I’ve also received good news regarding my health, so I’m grateful for that as well. The path may seem unclear at the moment, but I trust that God, faith and the universe will guide me through it all. All I can say is that when you trust in God and have faith anything is possible. Never give up and don’t lose faith my loves.

I will leave you with this, continue to be brave, empower yourself, stay determined, be fearless, courageous, have faith, and as hard as it may be stay strong through it all. Here’s to the year of the woman, let’s see what 2018 has in store for us all.

As always, thanks for reading, following along and supporting me in my journey!
