Anniesa Hasibuan’s show was simply captivating and moving. At the young age of 28, Hasibuan was the first Indonesian designer to showcase her collection at NYFW. This show has been heard all over the world, and with good reason. History was made in New York at NYFW, for she was the first Indonesian designer to present her collection, where the hijab made its debut on the catwalk. Featuring colorful headscarves in pink, silver and gold. The hijab was styled with eye catching jackets, gowns, colorful silk and patterned tunics, velvets and brocades adorned with pearls and sequins. All handcrafted and beaded with precise detail and care. Anniesa Hasibuan’s collection was inspired by her hometown Jakarta. The final outfit was the most gorgeous showstopper that left the audience stunned. It was truly inspiring to see a young designer like Anniesa Hasibuan present at NYFW. Not only inspiring but empowering, making you believe that dreams really do come true. The look of joy and happiness shined bright on her face has she walked the runway at the end of her show. The show concluded with a standing ovation, that gave me goosebumps.
I fell in love with the beaded jackets and gowns shown that evening. You can clearly see the time and effort that went into making each piece. How they were all handcrafted with the utmost love and care. Truly remarkable. I would totally rock one of those jackets any day!
[The hijab is a veil traditionally worn by Muslim women in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family, which usually covers the head and chest. The term can further refer to any head, face, or body covering worn by Muslim women that conforms to a certain standard of modesty. Hijab can also be used to refer to the seclusion of women from men in the public sphere, or it may denote a metaphysical dimension, for example referring to “the veil which separates man or the world from God”. (Wikipedia)]
Most often the hijab is worn by muslim women to display modesty and privacy. Most women are often stereotyped as disempowered, and constricted when wearing the hijab. Although, many women today choose to wear it for personal reasons. The hijab is in fact seen as a feminist statement to many. The women of the muslim culture have been neglected in the fashion industry for quite some time. But thanks to designers like Anniesa Hasibuan–she made her mark which was well received by many in the fashion industry. At the end of the show, I along with fellow blogger and friend Ellese Launer of Rock Paper Glam had the pleasure of speaking with the designer. A lovely women, with such great talents and a heart of gold. We asked, ” How long did the beading take?” And she responded, ” Quite some time, all were hand beaded and crafted.” When you speak to her, you too, will see her grace, charm and passion for fashion.
I’ll concluded with a statement Anniesa Hasibuan made to CNN, “I am so proud and thankful for everyone on the team who helped me so this event could happen, and I am thankful to international and local media from Indonesia for exposing my show. I did not realize the result can be this amazing, and I am thrilled and humbled by the welcome reaction given.” (CNN)
Thank you Anniesa Hasibuan for inspiring and empowering many of us with your collection and making a huge impact on the world. Your designs are truly amazing and well respected.
If you saw the show, and if you caught my Snapchat story that evening, what were your thoughts? Comment below, I love hearing from you!
As always, thanks for reading, following along and supporting me in my journey. I hope you enjoyed reading and I hope this post inspired you just as much as it did me.
The Shopstyle Social House was one event that I was SUPER excited about this season. I was thrilled to get invited to the Social House again and experience it all this NYFW SS17. I started my day with the Dan Liu show at the Skylight Clarkson Gallery. Then I headed uptown to the Glasshouses for the ShopStyle Social House event. This was one event I was looking forward to since I got the invitation. I was so happy and thrilled to experience and enjoy it all with my gal pal and fellow blogger friend Loren. She’s the writer and creator behind the blog: Enlightened By Bravery. If you aren’t following her yet, you should. She’s just a great women, with great style and an amazing personality. Such a beautiful soul she has, and I’m happy to have met her. Check her blog out: www.enlightenbybravery.com and her Instagram: @EnlightedByBravery.
This look was my favorite outfit I wore during NYFW. Probably not the best choice for that particular day though, because it felt like a sauna outside in early September. But hey, it’s all in the name of fashion. And let’s be honest, I’m a slave to FASHION. Rock it and own it, which is exactly what I did. What’s great about this dress is that it still can be worn and style for the Fall months. Can’t wait to style and rock the look again soon.
We enjoyed getting our hair done by the hairstylist there that day. Sipped on champagne and Rose, browsed the clothing racks to borrow some FAB pieces to rock during NYFW. Thanks to Shopstyle, Sole Society, The Outnet Iris and Ink and Sam Edelman, for keeping me looking stylish and fashionably chic all throughout NYFW. We were also gifted great cross body bags by Gigi New York which were personally monogrammed for us by the Gigi New York staff. It was great to meet old and new friends as well as connecting with all the vendors at the event.
Dress: Tularosa (You can find the dress on this website as well)
Oxford Lace up Brogues: Kurt Geiger
Sunglasses: Quay Australia
Velvet Choker Necklace: Chloe and Isabel
A special thanks to Shopstyle and @altamiranyc for the mini photoshoot. It was such a pleasure shooting with him. Thankful to have been photographed by someone so talented and amazing. Check him out on Instagram: @altamiranyc.
As always, thanks so much for reading, following along and support me in my journey.
Marissa Webb is one designer I love and admire. When I attended her show last season, I was simply amazed by her incredible work. I can definitely say the same for this season. She presented on Day 1 of NYFW on September 8th at the Skylight Clarkson Gallery. Marissa Webb is one designer who perfectly balances feminine and masculine elements into her designs. Her designs exude cool, sophisticated, chic, and effortless all at the same time. Her SS17 Collection featured a soft palette of neutrals with pops of burnt orange, chartreuse in delicate silks and subtle ruffle accents. One of my favorite looks from this collection was her take on a suit. A modern day version of a traditional suit, and the back detail was just to die for. Every piece was absolutely AMAZING! I definitely had my favorites from her Ready-to-Wear collection. I wanted every piece in my size for my closet. I loved how she paired a military inspired jacket with her soft, pretty, floral dress. And how she paired a silk floral top with leather pants, seemed fitting and oh so stylish!
(MY FAVORITES FROM THE COLLECTION)
When it comes to design, Marissa Webb doesn’t need to dig deep to find inspiration. She dresses what she knows best, and what speaks to her. Her inspiration comes from what’s around her, specifically ” The Modern New York woman,” as she stated backstage before the show. Although, her designs are inspired by the Modern New York woman, they aren’t the only ones who will fall in love with this collection.
What’s your favorite from the collection?
As always, thanks for reading, following, and supporting me in my journey. I hope you enjoyed my photos and recap
Leanne Marshall’s SS17 collection at New York Fashion Week was absolutely stunning! We saw some gorgeous chiffon gowns, sheer cropped tops and pants numbers that floated down the runway leaving viewers speechless. Gowns were flowing, models glided through the runway almost as if they were floating on clouds. The overall vibe was something straight out of an elegant fairytale with stunning high fashion outfits. I believe, everyone who saw this show could see themselves wearing her entire collection. There’s no doubt about it, no matter what the occasion is, Leanne Marshall definitely showed beautiful consistency in every single piece that dawned the runway. Anybody who wears Leanne Marshall clothing will be a showstopper and will turn heads all over. Every look exude ethereal, feminine beauty that just flowed throughout the show.
The chiffon, organza, and cotton lace fabrics she used draped the feminine silhouettes effortlessly, making a grand entrance that was so captivating as they appeared on the runway. The inspiration behind her collection came from crystals and the meaning behind their healing energy. Each crystal could mean something different for a lot people. They can be used as a means to uplift you, help you channel the different things you may be going thru or even a way to find a sense of relief or meditation. Many designers have embraced the, “see it now, buy it now,” trend, something Marshall has begun to do too. 41 looks were presented at NYFW, and 10 of them were made to order immediately available now on her website. I don’t know about you, but I would love to owe a Leanne Marshall original any day!
The amount of detail of sheer illusions, hand-beading, and embellishments that Leanne Marshall designed were simply beautiful. It just goes to show the amount of time, dedication and detail that went into every piece of the collection. Needless to say, this show left me stunned by the beauty that existed in every piece that glided through the runway. I loved her color palette choice of soft pastels: rose quartz, plum, and blue. They invoked romantic and flirty feels that complimented Marshall’s artistry, almost dream like ambiance with the use of chiffon fabrics. I’m still amazed by the draping and movement of each piece. Two words I’d use to describe her collection: breathtaking and absolutely stunning. It only leaves us in high anticipation to see what’s to come next season. One things for sure, we know it will be nothing short from AMAZING!
As always, thanks for reading, following along and supporting me in my journey. I hope you enjoyed my recap and photos from this stunning show.
Here’s Part II of A NEW YORK MINUTE: A PR GAL TAKES ON NYFW 2016.
My day starts off with a big cup of coffee well a Skinny Soy Vanilla Latte to be exact from none other than Starbucks. Then off to the office before my first show at 10am Tadashi Shoji. But first work must be done to start my TGIF and day 2 of NYFW. As I sip on my coffee and check my emails that go on for days….. I reply to a few emails, chat on a some conference calls with clients, and continue with my talent submissions. That’s just the beginning of my day, fridays are casual at my office and at times can be chill, today wasn’t one of those days. If your looking for PR or Talent Management advice or consultation, head on over to my services page. I list all of my specialties and services and how I represent you as a client. I’m all about building relationships, creating, and harvesting careers, and taking a brand or client to the next level. Contact me today for more information.
And one thing I may add, while trying to be stylish and chic for NYFW, this Fashion week was all about layers and feeling comfy but still keeping it glam. Because it was beyond cold, and winter was definitely in full effect. I don’t know about you but I was cold AF. (excuse my language but I’m keeping it real 🙂 )
Now off to the Tadashi Shoji show, I absolutely love Shoji’s creations. Tadashi Shoji is known for his iconic red carpet gowns and evening wear. Flowy, shimmery and sparkly dresses, where some have been influenced by his Japanese culture and background. The set design was stunning, dark but dramatic, and the gown definitely gave off major sex appeal. That runway was hot and sexy and we loved that from this collection. With thigh -high slits, cutouts and embellished bodysuits, the collection was super sexy and to die for. This collection caught everyones attention, including mine, and I love the contrast in his direction with this line. Velvet, sequins and lace were recognizable on the runway. Tadashi Shoji gave his gowns a super sexy upgrade, and I’m sure we all can agree we absolutely LOVED IT. Definitely a collection worth checking out and rocking.
Best known for her bridal designs, casual fun and flirty wear and accessories, also a former Rhody as an alum of Rhode Island School of Design. I’ve always enjoyed seeing her work and seeing it come alive on the runway, a great show to close my week and Friday. For this collection, she wanted to find a way to make winter seem more happier and brighter as oppose to it’s cold and gloomy outlook. She makes references to nordic style with wears featuring colorful beading, embroidery, tassel prints, and tons of ruffles. Even with the Nordic style and
folkloric influences, she channels and connects eclectic vibes and wintery whimsical air, while staying true to the labels essence of fun, flirty style with a youthful spirit.
I absolutely LOVED Mara Hoffman’s presentation at The High Line Hotel. I must say, I love going to presentations because you get to see the designers designs up close and personal, take the photos you’d like and really get a feel for the collection. Not to say I don’t like runway shows, but sometimes they are too fast and you aren’t able to capture the true essence of what the designer is trying to convey at times. Also it can sometimes be hard to get the right photo opt. With the constant flow and movement of all the gorgeousness on the runway, getting that perfect shot can be tricky. Nonetheless, both are visually beautiful. Mara Hoffman’s presentation seemed dream like, inspired by her three muses of Grace Jone, Jerry Hall and Cher. Women and children were dressed to the nines with ensembles referencing the twenties and seventies. Ladies lounging on persian rugs giving off the luxe and chic vibe. All of the designs were eye-catching, I wanted one of everything in my size. She even incorporated her signature pieces- her beautiful maxi dresses that were lace embroidered. She was saying at the presentation that she wanted to “Represent the journey of a women, a women who traveled the world.” In this collection, with it’s vibe, fabrics, and twenties -seventies influences she sure did that just that.
Next stop, SHOPSTYLECOLLECTIVE SOCIAL HOUSE
My husband and I head to the ShopStyleCollection Social House event at 404 10th avenue. We braved the cold again, all layered and bundled and headed to the fun-filled event. And it surely wasn’t just an event for just women, men, husband, boyfriends etc were welcomed too. My husband got to join in on the fun, and he enjoyed himself, but mostly he enjoyed seeing me in my element. Networking, connecting, and embracing the whole experience with me. We arrived in this social house filled with vendors and brands, displays of the latest styles and trends in fashion for you to borrow and wear to complete your look during NYFW. How awesome is that, it was AMAZING! We met some of the team from Shopstyle, Gigi of New York, and Daniel Wellington. And to top it off, Gigi of New York gifted women monogram bags that had a crossbody strap that detached to convert the bag into a super cute clutch. Daniel Wellington was also gifting their watches to attendees. My husband and I got matching watches. Love the brand, so classic and versatile, and definitely stylish and fashionable. We enjoy small bites, light cocktails, a photo session with notable photographer Craig David, viewed wearable collections from top brands and I enjoyed a little beauty touch up from their beauty station with Stoway Cosmetics & R+Co. While at the event, I met other fashion bloggers and fashion savvy elites, as we discussed our week ahead and exchanged which shows we were attending as well as information to stay in touch. What a great event to start the Fashion week mania. Overall, both my husband and I were thankful for the invitation. Looking forward to future events. Upon leaving we were gifted goodies totes filled with momentums, gifts and other information about the event, the brands there and more.
With it being Valentine’s Day weekend, I got to enjoy the rest of the day with my forever valentine, my husband. Took a break from my NYFW schedule and spent the rest of the day and evening with my love. We grabbed a bite to eat in the city before heading home. We continue our Valentine day/weekend by relaxing and cuddling up on the couch to a movie at home. To some that may seem boring, but with it being so cold, and both of us being super exhausted from the week, it was a perfect evening. And it’s never boring when your spending it with someone you love. (Sounds corny, but I keep it real and it’s the truth)!! 🙂
FEBRARY 14TH VALENTINES DAY
After a romantic night in with my husband, this was yet another sleepless night for me. My body was telling me I need sleep, but my mind was telling me you still haev a gazillion things you need to do. I began my mental list…. As much as I tried to get some shut eye, I still had a million things to do before my next couple of shows and presentations for today and the week ahead. So after enjoying a nice movie with my husband, as he rested, I replied to a few client emails, (my westcoast clients) and edited my photos from shows, presentations and events for the blog and portfolio.
A PR girl’s job is never done nor does she ever stop working, she’s always in working mode, and making moves everywhere she goes. Stress will arise regardless, but I too sometimes need to listen to my own advice. It’s extremely important to get rest, even though your days are long and busy rest — staying healthy is vital and important. Even though I may struggle with the lack of sleep element, I fully promote R&R. It’s good for your body and good for your soul.
That day I met with the two amazing female bloggers BrownEyedToast and Rock.Paper. Glam at the Michael De Paulo presentation. Michael De Paulo’s Fall/Winter 2016 Collection was truly exquisite and breathtaking. I appreciated that De Paulo didn’t shy away from working with varying silhouettes. It was nice to see the versatility throughout his collection. From his full-length ball gown to his flirty and might I add sexy beaded jumpsuit and his fun and whimsical take on a ballet skirt. I can’t express enough how I love seeing a designers creative artistry come to life. Michael De Paulo’s collection exudes luxury and sophistication yet chic and sexy all at the same time. My personal favorite was the beaded deep v jumpsuit. It was very chic and super sexy!
For the rest of NYFW I attended the shows/presentations of: Lela Rose, Rachel Zoe, Monique lhuillier, Style Fashion Week, Nolcha Show– Rohitava Banerjee, and Alice and Olivia. On one of the nights during Fashion week, I took a break from it all and attended a NY Society event and Release Party for Sophisticated Weddings. I’ll speak more about the event in my Wedding Wednesday post for next week. Overall, NYFW 2016 was a success, even though my body and mind were completely exhausted, it was a fun-filled week. The fashion just gets better and better each time around. I enjoyed seeing and meeting the people I connected with. A couple days with little to no sleep is all worth it for the sake of FASHION!! That concludes my recap and take on NYFW 2016, hope you enjoyed my take and recap of my fully loaded week of glamour, fatigue, and fun!!

My PR /Talent Management/Blogger advice: R&R is key, stress will come with anything, and the workload will surely be there. But be sure to take care of you first, before anything else. Above anything else, stay humble, and stay true to yourself. Take a moment and take it all in and never let a moment pass you by. Count your blessings each and everyday. And always remember to be courageous, be stylish, be glam, and be YOU! Love of love to you always!
What can we expect in fashion trends?
Gradients of colors
greys, caramels, creams,
Twenties and Seventies influences
Sexy, Chic, luxe styles
The blend of masculine and feminine styles colliding
Fashion that’s more comfortable, chic yet versatile
Lots of drama, floral prints, flowy dresses and gowns
Lace, velvet and embroidered pieces

To end here’s my PR/Talent MGNMT/BLOGGER GAL Advice to you all:

Ever wondered what it’s like to go to NYFW has a PR gal, well look no further. Here is my recap of my busy week during NYFW 2016.
Everytime NYFW comes around I always anticipate a fun and not to mention jam packed week full of shows, presentations, events and an overall exciting week all around. But this also means, keep the lattes coming. Little to no shut eye is a given, but it’s all worth it for the sake of fashion!! Nothing a little concealer, big sunglasses can’t fix, oh and not to mention a killer outfit to go with it!!
I can’t believe it’s that time again, NYFW!! Everytime this time of the year comes around, it just gets better and better. The fashion and the events, a great way for networking as well as connecting with new and old friends. I love meeting and connecting with people, great way for building lasting business relationships as well as long lasting friendships.
The first show up is BCBG MaxAzria, I always look forward to this show, because it’s always the first show of the week and not only am I a huge fan of the designers and the brand, I alway look forward to see what’s up Max and Lubov Azria sleeve.
The muse behind their inspiration is a performer with an individualistic style that “reveals artistic ingenuity through her onstage presence and offstage persona ” ( WWD magazine). The collection envelopes a rich winter palette with gradient shades of light greys, creams and camels transitioning into rich merlot, ink blue and carbon colors. For this collection we can look forward to colorblocking colors, linear sihouettes and layers. Overall it was a great show, and I would like to add a few pieces to my wardrobe!
With a break in between shows, I headed back to my office to get some much needed work done. Prepping for upcoming client events, client submissions, conference calls, and meetings I knew the day was gonna be a long one. But let’s face it, when is my day NEVER long or busy…. Just an insight into a PR and Talent Management creatives life.
I try and look on the brightside, there’s never a dull moment in this business. And as hectic and crazy as my days can be, I always have to find the humor and not to let things get the best of me. Aside from all the stress, and craziness that comes my way in a day, I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
From the office I headed to the Skylight at the Moynihan Station…..
Next show up is none other than the talented Marissa Webb! I’m an absolute fan of her work, and honored to see it all unfold on the runway. Her style and chic designers are ready to wear fashion, and who wouldn’t want to own one of her creations. — Her collection for Fashion week 2016, played up to her style of masculine and feminine, hard and soft edgy and sweet looks with a twist. I loved her printed silk flutter dresses and long plaid coats and outerwear, I must say very chic and luxe all at the same time. She threw us all for a loop with her tight leather pants and layers, the look proved to be somewhat different from the usual look she is known for. Although the black leather pants, may have proved to be controversial to some, I still admired her direction, and she’s still one of my favorites. I love how her style can be wore in the work place but can also be dress down for a casual day or night on the town. Either way, her designs are worth the purchase, you’re wardrobe will be thanking you!
From the Marissa Webb show I rushed across town to Gotham Hall to Style Fashion Week. Had the pleasure of seeing the designs of designers: Pop Impresska, Nina Gleyzer and House of Perna. I truly admired seeing such creativity and artistry come to life on the runway. Simply beautiful and stunning. I was honored and happy to be part of Style Fashion Week for another year, and glad to share this moment with fellow blogger: BrownEyedToast.
From Gotham Hall, I met up with my husband and we went to the Jewelry Boutique Marisa Perry’s Bourbon and Baubles event. Who can refuse cocktails, small bites, and beautiful jewelry paired with great people!! A girl can never go wrong with fashion and Diamonds, I mean they could equally be a girls two best friends!! My husband and I enjoyed meeting the owner of this posh and upscale Jewelry boutique located in the ever so chic Meatpacking Area. We met some great people that evening, and looking forward to connecting with them again soon at a future event. But if you’re in the market for an engagement ring or other fine jewelry delights definitely visit Marisa Perry Atelier at: 636 Hudson Street, NYC or check out her website at: www.marisaperry.com. You won’t be disappointed, I found a few gorgeous eye candy gems that i’d want to shine on my finger!!
After the Bourbon and Baubles event, we headed uptown to the Go for Red for Women– Red Dress Collection event and Fashion show. This is one event and show that I’m always so blessed and thankful to be part of. It’s a great event to support a great cause. I love seeing designers, celebrities, personalities, models and more come together to show their support for women’s health and the American Heart Association. I also had the honor of meeting a fellow filipina and our very own Miss Universe Pia Wurtbach. She is truly an inspiration and a remarkable young woman. She sure is confidently beautiful with a heart! She was a great addition to the show, along with singer, song-writer and model Monica, Actress Candace Cameron-Bure, to name a few. It was a great end to day 1 of NYFW. Uplifting and empowering a great way to end the evening.
One thing I will say that I’ve learned in this business, no matter how much stress comes my way, or how defeated I may feel from time to time. I love connecting and meeting like minded creatives. I love how we can all come together reflect, engage, create while uplifting and inspiring one another in more ways than one. For me, that’s what keeps me going each day in this business. For the amount of times I’ve felt discouraged or uninspired, I get a pick me up every so often, and I tell myself I’m doing a good job. And no matter how big or little the job is I’m making a difference and inspiring the next person that comes along. So just remember, don’t ever think a dream or idea is ever to small and nothing can come from it. Continue to dream, inspire and do your thang girl!!
And that’s a wrap for Day 1 of NYFW 2016! Stay tuned for part II of: In a NEW YORK MINUTE: A PR GAL TAKES ON NYFW 2016 II- UP NEXT!

So here’s my recap of Day 2 & 3 of Fashion week so far. Fashion week so far has been so much FUN and AMAZING. I know you’ll be hearing those two words FUN and AMAZING a lot in my blogs and snapchats. But thats just what NYFW has been for me. And I can’t tell you the Fashion, Oh my Goodness– BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, EQUISITE, just a few adjectiveS to describe the show’s I’ve been to thus far. honestly and truly, as I stated in my last blog, i’ve grown a true appreciation for the designers and their work. what goes into it, their vision and influencers to create such beautiful pieces of art. its just extraodinary and inspiring.
On Day 2 of Fashion Week I went to the Nicole Miller show and Refinery 29’s: 29 Rooms.
LEt’s begin with Nicole Miller’s show: she’s an Iconic designer whose known for her signature graphic prints and innovative sillouhette,. she holds a special place in my heart for she graduated from RISD located in my home state of rhode island. Since an early age, I’ve been such a BIG fan of ALL of her designs. Her unique style and vision, is captivating, and eye-catching. the ss16 collection shown at ny Fashion Week–we saw lot of colors and Patterns, she stayed true to her signature style while incorporating more vibrant hues and patterns. As I stated in my last blog, this seems to be the trend to hit the runways, “vibrant hues and bold patterns.” Nicole Miller’s Designs and show is exactly what you would expect for New York City. From the bright electric neon eyeshadow worn on the models, to the bold and graphic prints and graffiti patterns– it just brings us back to the gritty streets of 90’s NYC. i mean i don’t know about you but who didn’t love the 90s, and nyc in the 90s… I mean am I right?! Her show was FABULOUS and we have so much to look forward come this Spring/Summer 2016 and I know I can’t wait to rock the collection!!
Taking a break from the runway shows,, my Husband and I ventured to Brooklyn to check out Refinery 29’s : 29 Rooms. And might I say, we thorougHly enjoyed ourselves. Celebrating 10 years, Refinery 29 rented a warehouse IN BROOKLYN, hosting their very own 29 Rooms. 29 rooms that illustrated a wild, interactive fun-house highlighting various aspects of style and culture through installations, one-of-a-kind performance, virtually reality experiences, music and more. And might I say, it was quite innovative, fun and quite the experience. each room was curated by an artist of their choosing where they gave tribute to minnie mouse, “an ode to literary heroines created with Nordstrom Rack, an Old Navy DIY denim workshop, a PUMA and SIX:02 stop-motion projection project, and a mysterious “cabinet of curiosities” made with Fossil” (http://www.refinery29.com/refinery29-29rooms-fashion-week-event) thank you refinery 29 for a fun-filled evening, both my husband and I enjoyed the exhibits.
(QUYNH, ESOSA, AND SANTA CLARA GRACE)
MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE LA NUIT ROSE EVENT AT THE BEAUTIFUL GOTHAM HALL. WE WATCHED THE SHOWS OF TOP DESIGNERS: QUYNH PARIS, ESOSA AND SANTA CLARA GRACE WHILE ENJOYING PREMIUM SELECTION OF ROSÉ WINES FROM BRANDS SUCH AS VIE VITÉ, AIX, TRIENNES, GÉRARD BERTRAND, BARTON & GUESTIER AND FERRARI. OVERALL, IT WAS A FUN- FILLED FASHION EVENT. THE DESIGNERS CREATIONS WERE FLOWY, STYLISH, AND FEMININE.
WE SAW A LOT OF COLOR BLOCKING AS WELL AS TEXTURE AND BOLD PATTERNS. A FUN EVENT TO EXPERIENCE FASHION WITH MY HUSBAND, I LOVE HOW HE SHOWS ME HE LOVES AND SUPPORTS MY CAREER WHEN HE COMES TO EVENTS LIKE THESE WITH ME. AND I MEAN FASHION, ROSÉ, AND GOURMENT FOOD, YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG. I MEAN THEY ALL GO SO WELL WITH EACH OTHER, AM I RIGHT…!!!
I’M A BIG FAN OF THIS DESIGNER/WOMEN, HER DESIGNER ARE SO CHIC AND BEAUTIFUL AND NOT TO MENTION WE SHARE THE SAME FILIPINO HERITAGE. AFTER SEEING HER SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME, MIGHT I SAY THIS FILIPINA REPRESENTED. MONIQUE LHUILLIER’S COLLECTION HAD THE ESSENCE OF LUXURY WHILE ILLUSTRATING MODERN GLAMOUR AND FEMININITY. I PARTICULARLY LOVED THE HINT OF VIBRANT HUES IN HER DRESSES. THE ENTIRE COLLECTION EXUDED STYLE AND SOPHISTICATION WHICH IS WHAT BEST DESCRIBES THE DESIGER HERSELF. THE COLLECTION ILLUSTRATED A LOT OF BOLD GEOMETRIC PATTERNS, AS WELL AS VIBRANT HUES, THAT WERE ALL DEFINITELY CLASSY AND FEMININE. MY FAVORITES FROM THE COLLECTION WERE THE FLORAL AND CUTOUT PATTERN DRESSES WHERE WE SAW HOW SHE PLAYED WITH TEXTURES IN THOSE DESIGNS. I FOUND THOSE PIECES TO BE VERY ELEGANT LOOKING WHICH I LOVED AND ADMIRED. STAYING TRUE TO HER AESTHETIC, SHE CREATED A COLLECTION FILLED WITH COLORS, SHAPES, AND DETAIL THAT WAS QUITE MEMORABLE. IT WOULD BE A DREAM OF MINE TO OWN AND WEAR ONE OF THESE DESIGN– JUST BEAUTIFUL!
BANANA REPUBLIC COLLECTION SHOWED US READY TO WEAR FASHION THAT MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WANTED TO DRESS UP FOR WORK. LOOKING CLASSY AND STYLISH ALL AT THE SAME TIME. CREATIVE DESIGNER FOR THE BRAND: MARISSA WEBB INTRODUCED US TO A NEW STYLE AND WAY TO DRESS FOR THE OFFICE. IN AN INTERVIEW SHE STATED, “It’s about having fun and taking suiting out of that serious box,” Webb tells InStyle. “(The collection) isn’t completely different from the past because there’s still the tailored element, but it’s about styling and mixing and matching elements.” (http://www.instyle.com/news/banana-republic-spring-2016-nyfw) SHE TWO PLAYED WITH BRIGHT COLORS- ALONG WITH BOLD PATTERN STATEMENTS, STEPPING AWAY FROM THE STANDARD COLORS OF NAVY AND BLACK. WEBB TELL’S INSTYLE MAGAZINE,” “The collection is a spin-off of the heritage of Banana Republic,” Webb explains. “It’s making it relevant and modern, taking hints from travel—Morocco and Marrakesh—with colors, patterns and textures.” ( “http://www.instyle.com/news/banana-republic-spring-2016-nyfw) FROM START TO FINISH, THE COLLECTION WAS CREATED IN NYC AND HOLDS TO TRUE TO THE NYC VIBE DESPITE THE GLOBAL INFLUENCE. I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON SOME THESE PIECES, AND ROCK THEM AT THE OFFICE!!
SO THAT’S MY RECAP FROM NYFW DAY 2 & 3 FOR MORE AT NYFW, FASHION, TRENDS, STYLE, AND MORE STAY TUNED!
Yesterday was Day 1 of Fashion Week in New York. And here is the recap of my fun-filled day! I went to the Desigual, BCBG MAX AZRIA, AND Tadashi Shoji. The 3 shows wERE so fun and not to mention AMAZING!! I never really appreciated Fashion until I attended Fashion week a couple years ago. Seeing all of the work and the inspiration that GOES behind in creating every piece from each collection is just so creative, innovative, and aspiring. I’VE grown a huge appreciation for Fashion and the industry after attending these events over the years.
Tasdashi Shoji- A Japanese designer who has created such beautiful gowns and dresses over the years. This year, we saw many White Dresses with variations of vibrant hues. Tadashi stated that the inspiration behind his designs stem from his Japanese background which was carefully and beautifully illustrated in his collection. The show was very serene with the feel of like a Japanese garden cascading the runway. He stated in an interview, that when creating this collection he delve deep into his Japanese roots. You could definitely see this resemblence throughout all his designs. His gowns are gorgeous, delicate, chic, and are beautifully crafted.
Desigual- The collection included pieces with bright and vibrant patterns, which seems to be the latest trend hitting the fashion scenes. The fashion line is considered, “An exciting and passionate project that involved imaginative people enjoying every single day.” This focus and idea is seen through the pieces of the collection. The bright colors and vibrant patterns definitely illustrate the vision that the designer is trying to get across to their audience. A fun, free-spirited collection, that we all can embrace, love and enjoy!
BCBG MAX AZRIA- This show resembled that of the free-spirited and fun feeling that of Desigual but in their own way. The Bohemian inspired line showed a lot of flower -power flocks with many loose- fitting palazzo wide-legged pants, tribal prints and hipster bucket hats. What came to mind was bright sunny, flower power , with a more cozy relaxed, fun look. In an interviewn, Azria states, “It’s very (sporty) day wear,” said Azria. “It is more about the fiesta of the fashion.” (Read more here: http://www.bellinghamherald.com/entertainment/article34668465.html#storylink=cpy) I’m a huge fan of BCBG MAX AZRIA and I could see myself wearing some of the pieces from the collection
