BEAUTY BLOGGER Secrets: How to’s, Tips, and Tricks. Ways to getting Glowing, Healthy and Hydrated Skin

Posted on: October 16, 2015

As the seasons change so does our skin….

Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on my skin. Many have asked me how my skin is always looking healthy, radiant and smooth.  So, here it is guys, here is my skincare routine and all the products I use. Forgive me, this is a long, detailed post, but well-worth the read. Enjoy!

 For the Spring & summer months I try and keep it pretty simple and light. The harsh rays from the sun can be damaging so I used a 30 spf underneath my moisturizer to keep my face and skin safe from any sun damage. During the Fall and winter months I continue to use spf but go a little heavier on my moisturizer. During those cold months our skin can get dry and flaky, so by using a deeper moisturizing creams it helps prevent dryness.

My Tips & Advice:

TIP #1

Toner’s are used after cleansing your face. They were once recommended for restoring the pH balance to your skin.  They also take off the underlying oil and dirt that might’ve not been removed while cleansing.  They also help to add moisture to your skin, and aid in keeping the skin fresh and supple. There are many different toners out there from alcohol based astringents to water based or glycol formula or fragrant toners. Alcohol based astringents can be irritating to the skin, which is why I gravitate towards water soluble/water based products. I highly recommend water based toners because they are healthy and safe for your skin. They are beneficial and contain antioxident agents that can give moisture and hydration back to your skin.

I’ve been loving: Caudalie’s Grape water

 *Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner

I’ve been reading a lot about face oils and how they help with anti-aging, hydration, dark circles and so much more. Keeps the skin supple, smooth, and radiant. I know sounds bizarre…. Face oil???? When you try this tip you will notice a difference instantly. The oil soaks into the skin overnight, leaving your skin feeling supple and hydrated in the morning.

          If you didn’t know, we lose a lot of moisture in our skin while we sleep. In combination with your night cream using face oil, can aid in anti-aging, prevents wrinkles, dark circles as well as being very hydrating for your skin. The effects may vary for some but adding face oil to my routine as been amazing.  I’ll be traveling to the Westcoast soon, and it tends to be a lot warmer and drier. So while I’m on the plane and on my trip, extra moisturizing won’t hurt!

*I’ve been using Josie Maran’s Lightweight Organic Argan Oil

*Sunday Riley Luna Oil

TIP #3

I never used any serums until now. Some skip this step entirely, but now my skin is thankful for it. My neice, Jill an experienced esthetician recommended I use a serum to avoid future flare ups. They also  aid in preventing early signs of aging/wrinkles. Serums are featherweight products that have a heavy impact on the face. They can be an alternative to a moisturizing or can go hand in hand. I’m pretty thankful for the tip because my skin has been looking so youthful, smooth, and beautiful. I get carded everywhere I go because people cannot believe I’m 30, but I am.

What i’m currently using:

* Kiko’s Perfect Picture Photo Perfect Smoothin Serum (Great underneath make-up)

* No7 Protect & Perfect Serum

Eye Cream

It’s never too early to start using an eye cream. Our skin changes every year and the elasticity loosens faster as we get older. They can be pricey but the results are worth your while. They help with stress shown in our skin, undereye bags, dark circles, and wrinkles.

Products to Try:

* Bobbi Brown’s Hydrating Eye Cream

*Neutrogena’s Eye Cream

TIP #5

I can”t express to you enough how important it is to exfoliate. When you exfoliate you remove dead skin cells from the surface giving you a clean and fresh face to work with. When you don’t exfoliate it leaves your skin looking dull, rough, and dry. It helps in preventing skin problems, and increases blood circulation which in turn helps you to achieve healthy, glowing skin. This is tip is good for your face and body. It’s best to exfoliate your skin at least twice a week. But don’t over exfoliate. Just enough to leave your skin looking  and feeling radiant, smooth, fresh and luxurious.

This may not be a HUGE beauty secret……But, eating a well-balanced meals and drinking water has a lot of benefits not just for your healthy but your skin too. Water not only keeps you hydrated,  it keeps the skin moist and supple too. Keeping hydrated is good for your overall health and skin. Did you know our skin is made up of 64% water….. Interesting, right? Results may not be immediate but drinking water can help towards healthier, glowing skin. While incorporating a  well- balanced diet. Health is wealth so keep your body and skin clean. The overall results will amaze you. So drink up and stay healthy!

I absolutely LOVE:

*Green Juices

* Beet Juice

* Organic Coconut Water

FACT: NEVER go to bed without washing your face…. Trust me you’ll thank me later. I know we can get lazy and at the moment sooo tried to wash off the day and all that make-up, but you’ll feel so much better after.  In the past, I failed at this from time to time. I’m human, but my skin paid the price. I would have a lot of break outs and my skin was a total mess. And it wasn’t pretty. All that oil build up and bacteria from the day before caught up with me.  Sounds gross I know, but as i’ve gotten older and has skin changed I’ve taken better care of my face and stepped up my skincare game.

But from time to time I have the occassional flare up which is mostly hormonal. Other times can be because of something else……..  Time to listen to your skin.

It’s important to know and understand your skin to avoid any skin problems in the future. After much research, listening to my skin, and visiting my facialist to ask for her expertise, I just as I suspected. Products and brands can be so appealing not to mention they smell great too. Sometimes the products you used isn’t right for your skin type.

FACT:  NEVER pick at your skin. As tempting as it may be, DON”T DO IT!! Again, we’ve all been guilty of this. No one likes a huge whitehead or pimple staring them in the face. Solution: Pick it and make it go away instantly! WRONG!! Doing this causes redness and inflammation of the skin. Which can lead to the spread of more breakouts let alone lasting redness and scaring. Try not to pick your face. Please 🙂

*NOTE:  If you’re a make-up lover like myself, heres’ a tip that may come of no surprise or secret. It’s best if you wash your brushes and beauty blending sponges at least once a week. Trust me your doing yourself and your face a favor.  Unwashed brushes and sponges build up bacteria after use.   Unwashed tools + More make up on them + application to the face= A BIG HUGE MESS and a Major Break out on the rise!!

Everything I’ve learned is just through my own research, trial and error, and personal experiences. So I hope these tips were helpful and useful to you. And I hope you learned something too. 🙂
