Set sail, we’re headed to the Grand Cayman islands.
I was so thrilled to go to Grand Cayman islands. This would be a first time visiting the island and I couldn’t wait to explore it all. So, Grand Cayman was one of the stops on my cruise. So, I had to maximize my time since we only had a few hours there. So, as soon as we docked, it was time to explore! We arrived at 8am and were set to sail at 5pm. So, I wanted to cover as much as I could during that time frame. First, I had breakfast on the boat, then my next stop was Seven Mile beach.
Grand Cayman Islands Facts:
Next stop, Seven Miles Beach. Seven Miles beach is best known for its beauty and was honored in receiving “The Caribbean’s Best Beach” from Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine. It’s the most popular, and most developed in the Grand Cayman’s. Seven Miles beach is the home of the islands luxury resorts and hotels. Despite its name, it’s actually stretches a bit over 6.3 miles. Once you walk the stretch you’ll be able to enjoy beach for miles, restaurants along the beach in and outside the resorts are open to the public. Definitely an area where tourist visit, an where we spent most of our time. You can enjoy water sports such as scuba diving and snorkeling which are the most popular activities on the island. Our day was spent enjoying the beach and having fun in the sun. We also, had fun on the jet ski’s! If you haven’t gone jet skiing before, I highly recommend it. It’s so much fun!
After a few drinks and some sun, and my newly bronzed and tan self I made my way back towards the boat. But before getting on the boat, I stopped into the local shops in the downtown area close to port. As I said before, the island isn’t that big, so you can literally walk and drive around the entire island. I made my way back to the downtown/ George town area, enjoyed some authentic rum cake, purchased a few souvenirs for family, friends and myself and made my way back onto the boat.
If your looking for beach, water sports activities, great views, and just time to relax and unwind then Grand Cayman Islands is a place to visit. It’s truly a beautiful island, where the people are friendly, and welcoming. Grand Cayman isn’t a big island, but it has a lot to offer.

I know these next few post are late, but hey better late than never, right…!?!?
Last February into early March, I traveled to the Western Caribbean via Norwegian Cruises lines aboard the Norwegian Getaway. It was a 7 day cruise beginning and ending in Miami. Our first port that we sailed to was the island of Jamaica, specifically Ocho Rios.
Ocho Rios, in spanish means Eight Rivers a port town located on the north coast of Jamaica. Now a resorts port that was once a fisherman’s village that has a harbor for cruise ships to dock and where the resorts are surrounded by the beach waters. The closest town or Parish from the harbor is Saint Ann which is home of the infamous Dunn’s River.
Tourism Highlights:
Dunn’s River
The number one tourism attraction on the island is Dunn’s river. Dunn’s River is a terraced, 180m mountain waterfall equipped with lagoon pools. Simply breathtaking surrounded by so many trees and nature. Seeing all the lagoons and waterfalls in the Jamaican rainforest is absolutely breathtaking. If you haven’t checked out the falls it’s one stop you won’t want to miss!
BOBSLEDDING
Do you guys remember the movie Cool Runnings? This was one of my favorite movies/comedies growing up. And our tourist guy said that some parts of the film were filmed in various areas of the island of Ocho Rios. But this experience I hear was super fun, I mean you’re one with nature and bobsledding in 90 degree climates. I mean who wouldn’t want to experience this attraction. You’ll enjoy stunning views of nature and the island during this bobsled ride. This is one excursion my husband and I didn’t get to try but we look forward to trying it on our next visit to Jamaica in the near future.
WHERE TO EAT
Whenever I travel anywhere I’d like to try out local + authentic eats. I enjoy immersing myself in the culture and getting to know the locals +natives of the countries I visit. The people in Jamaica were nice, welcoming and friendly. Everyone I encountered were very approachable and willing to tell us where to eat and stay. Very resourceful and helpful. When visiting, eat like the locals and enjoy the countries favorites like: Curry chicken, jerk chicken, curry goat, plantains and much more.
Great local eateries are Scotchies and Mama Marleys.
Scotchies was also featured on the RHOA when they visited Ocho Rios. The cast enjoyed their famous jerk chicken after they climbed the falls of Dunn’s River. Another local favorite is: Mama Marleys . Very close to the harbor/port. It’s conveniently located in a shopping mall where you can purchase a few souvenirs for yourself, family and friends. I recommend the Jerk Chicken and the curry goat, two island favorites. Prepared to perfection and tastes delicious!
WHERE TO STAY
The top 3 resorts to stay at when you visit Ocho Rios:
Moon Palace Jamaica Grande
Hotel Sandals Royal Plantation
Sandals Grande Rivera Beach & Villa Golf Resort
These are the top hotels that tourist stay at when they visit the island. They’re all-inclusive beachfront hotels with so much to offer. All three hotels are luxury hotels all within minutes of the neighboring parishes (towns), close to local bars, shops and tourist attractions. Check them out today!!
Jamaica is truly a friendly and welcoming island. I will definitely be back to visit. I look forward to explore and discover more of this beautiful and happy island.
Again, thanks for stopping by, reading and following along. Enjoy the photos and I hope one day you’ll consider visiting this beautiful island and check out one or all of the attractions and places I’ve mentioned today.

So here’s my recap of Day 2 & 3 of Fashion week so far. Fashion week so far has been so much FUN and AMAZING. I know you’ll be hearing those two words FUN and AMAZING a lot in my blogs and snapchats. But thats just what NYFW has been for me. And I can’t tell you the Fashion, Oh my Goodness– BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, EQUISITE, just a few adjectiveS to describe the show’s I’ve been to thus far. honestly and truly, as I stated in my last blog, i’ve grown a true appreciation for the designers and their work. what goes into it, their vision and influencers to create such beautiful pieces of art. its just extraodinary and inspiring.
On Day 2 of Fashion Week I went to the Nicole Miller show and Refinery 29’s: 29 Rooms.
LEt’s begin with Nicole Miller’s show: she’s an Iconic designer whose known for her signature graphic prints and innovative sillouhette,. she holds a special place in my heart for she graduated from RISD located in my home state of rhode island. Since an early age, I’ve been such a BIG fan of ALL of her designs. Her unique style and vision, is captivating, and eye-catching. the ss16 collection shown at ny Fashion Week–we saw lot of colors and Patterns, she stayed true to her signature style while incorporating more vibrant hues and patterns. As I stated in my last blog, this seems to be the trend to hit the runways, “vibrant hues and bold patterns.” Nicole Miller’s Designs and show is exactly what you would expect for New York City. From the bright electric neon eyeshadow worn on the models, to the bold and graphic prints and graffiti patterns– it just brings us back to the gritty streets of 90’s NYC. i mean i don’t know about you but who didn’t love the 90s, and nyc in the 90s… I mean am I right?! Her show was FABULOUS and we have so much to look forward come this Spring/Summer 2016 and I know I can’t wait to rock the collection!!
Taking a break from the runway shows,, my Husband and I ventured to Brooklyn to check out Refinery 29’s : 29 Rooms. And might I say, we thorougHly enjoyed ourselves. Celebrating 10 years, Refinery 29 rented a warehouse IN BROOKLYN, hosting their very own 29 Rooms. 29 rooms that illustrated a wild, interactive fun-house highlighting various aspects of style and culture through installations, one-of-a-kind performance, virtually reality experiences, music and more. And might I say, it was quite innovative, fun and quite the experience. each room was curated by an artist of their choosing where they gave tribute to minnie mouse, “an ode to literary heroines created with Nordstrom Rack, an Old Navy DIY denim workshop, a PUMA and SIX:02 stop-motion projection project, and a mysterious “cabinet of curiosities” made with Fossil” (http://www.refinery29.com/refinery29-29rooms-fashion-week-event) thank you refinery 29 for a fun-filled evening, both my husband and I enjoyed the exhibits.
day 3
(QUYNH, ESOSA, AND SANTA CLARA GRACE)
MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO THE LA NUIT ROSE EVENT AT THE BEAUTIFUL GOTHAM HALL. WE WATCHED THE SHOWS OF TOP DESIGNERS: QUYNH PARIS, ESOSA AND SANTA CLARA GRACE WHILE ENJOYING PREMIUM SELECTION OF ROSÉ WINES FROM BRANDS SUCH AS VIE VITÉ, AIX, TRIENNES, GÉRARD BERTRAND, BARTON & GUESTIER AND FERRARI. OVERALL, IT WAS A FUN- FILLED FASHION EVENT. THE DESIGNERS CREATIONS WERE FLOWY, STYLISH, AND FEMININE.
WE SAW A LOT OF COLOR BLOCKING AS WELL AS TEXTURE AND BOLD PATTERNS. A FUN EVENT TO EXPERIENCE FASHION WITH MY HUSBAND, I LOVE HOW HE SHOWS ME HE LOVES AND SUPPORTS MY CAREER WHEN HE COMES TO EVENTS LIKE THESE WITH ME. AND I MEAN FASHION, ROSÉ, AND GOURMENT FOOD, YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG. I MEAN THEY ALL GO SO WELL WITH EACH OTHER, AM I RIGHT…!!!
(monique Ihuillier)
I’M A BIG FAN OF THIS DESIGNER/WOMEN, HER DESIGNER ARE SO CHIC AND BEAUTIFUL AND NOT TO MENTION WE SHARE THE SAME FILIPINO HERITAGE. AFTER SEEING HER SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME, MIGHT I SAY THIS FILIPINA REPRESENTED. MONIQUE LHUILLIER’S COLLECTION HAD THE ESSENCE OF LUXURY WHILE ILLUSTRATING MODERN GLAMOUR AND FEMININITY. I PARTICULARLY LOVED THE HINT OF VIBRANT HUES IN HER DRESSES. THE ENTIRE COLLECTION EXUDED STYLE AND SOPHISTICATION WHICH IS WHAT BEST DESCRIBES THE DESIGER HERSELF. THE COLLECTION ILLUSTRATED A LOT OF BOLD GEOMETRIC PATTERNS, AS WELL AS VIBRANT HUES, THAT WERE ALL DEFINITELY CLASSY AND FEMININE. MY FAVORITES FROM THE COLLECTION WERE THE FLORAL AND CUTOUT PATTERN DRESSES WHERE WE SAW HOW SHE PLAYED WITH TEXTURES IN THOSE DESIGNS. I FOUND THOSE PIECES TO BE VERY ELEGANT LOOKING WHICH I LOVED AND ADMIRED. STAYING TRUE TO HER AESTHETIC, SHE CREATED A COLLECTION FILLED WITH COLORS, SHAPES, AND DETAIL THAT WAS QUITE MEMORABLE. IT WOULD BE A DREAM OF MINE TO OWN AND WEAR ONE OF THESE DESIGN– JUST BEAUTIFUL!
(BANANA REPUBLIC)
BANANA REPUBLIC COLLECTION SHOWED US READY TO WEAR FASHION THAT MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WANTED TO DRESS UP FOR WORK. LOOKING CLASSY AND STYLISH ALL AT THE SAME TIME. CREATIVE DESIGNER FOR THE BRAND: MARISSA WEBB INTRODUCED US TO A NEW STYLE AND WAY TO DRESS FOR THE OFFICE. IN AN INTERVIEW SHE STATED, “It’s about having fun and taking suiting out of that serious box,” Webb tells InStyle. “(The collection) isn’t completely different from the past because there’s still the tailored element, but it’s about styling and mixing and matching elements.” (http://www.instyle.com/news/banana-republic-spring-2016-nyfw) SHE TWO PLAYED WITH BRIGHT COLORS- ALONG WITH BOLD PATTERN STATEMENTS, STEPPING AWAY FROM THE STANDARD COLORS OF NAVY AND BLACK. WEBB TELL’S INSTYLE MAGAZINE,” “The collection is a spin-off of the heritage of Banana Republic,” Webb explains. “It’s making it relevant and modern, taking hints from travel—Morocco and Marrakesh—with colors, patterns and textures.” ( “http://www.instyle.com/news/banana-republic-spring-2016-nyfw) FROM START TO FINISH, THE COLLECTION WAS CREATED IN NYC AND HOLDS TO TRUE TO THE NYC VIBE DESPITE THE GLOBAL INFLUENCE. I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON SOME THESE PIECES, AND ROCK THEM AT THE OFFICE!!
SO THAT’S MY RECAP FROM NYFW DAY 2 & 3 FOR MORE AT NYFW, FASHION, TRENDS, STYLE, AND MORE STAY TUNED!
XO,
SOCIALFASHIONISTABEAUTY
Self confidence is a subject I feel comfortable speaking about even though at times throughout my life I have struggled with this. I’ve definitely had moments in my life where some may look at me as if I have an abudance of self confidence when at times I really didnt. Maybe I just looked or possessed it. so many things affected me from feeling less self confident and feeling down on myself at times, Even at the age of 30, I have my moments. I believe at some point we all struggle with this. In this post, I’d like to give you ways in my opinion that have helped me build my self confidence and a little background on myself.
Growing up in a very traditional strict Filipino-American family wasn’t easy by no means, and being the youngest was not a breeze by no means. I know that many of my friends from Asian backgrounds and others can relate to this. Just like my siblings, we felt the pressures of always being somewhat “perfect” in a way. Not exactly perfect, but making sure we got good grades, always looked our best, well-mannered, etc…. Some viewed me as the typical shy, and submissive asian girl, which for the most part I was. I did what I was told, and was quiet, never spoke back, never really spoke my mind. In someways this can be good but its not so great in building self-confidence.
Moving away to college, was a whole new realm for me. It was my first time away from home, meeting all new people from all over. I was meeting so many different people and learning so many things. a huge difference growing up in a small suburban town. this was good for me, stepping away from my bubble so to speak. Meeting the people I met, and what I learned and experienced at College definitely helped build my self confidence tremendously. I started to find my own voice, and I didn’t feel like I was that meek, shy girl. Now don’t get me wrong I do have my moments, of being shy or quiet. But this usually occurs when I’m meeting new people, for the first time. I’m still outgoing but have my shy moments. This is Just me taking time to know you in my own way.
Surrounding myself with positive /happy people has defineitely helped boost my self -confidence. after meeting my husband, he’s taught me so much about self love, and self respect, and not to mention, how to not take things in life so seriously and to simply enjoy it. He’s a very happy soul and I’m so lucky to have met him and have him in my life. his caribbean background of “don’t worry, be happy” life rule has definitely influenced my life in more ways than one and I couldn’t be happier. BEing surrounded by people like himself is just a constant reminder of how i count my blessings and continue to love others and remain happy in life. Only giving off good vibes all around.
I’ve also learned to Take more time for myself. which has always been a struggle for me. I tend to put others needs before my own.. but i’ve learned that I need to be happy to0 and to embrace all my hardwork and to not let life pass me by. and i’m grateful and happier for it.
these are just some ways that have helped me in my life. Here are my 10 tips that have helped me gain, feel, build and boost my overall self- confidence and self- esteem. I’m no expert but these are just things I do/done to help make me feel/ build my confidence. tricks i’ve learned over the years that have made me so much happier!
1. But first Let me take a Selfie!
Yes, our society has become selfie obsessed, but come on you can’t say that taking a few selfie’s NEVER made you feel good…. Be silly, be glam, be you! Have fun with it, as silly has this tip may sound it truly works in building and feeling great! I know for myself, at times I may not be feeling so great about myself, but I get up, check out my closet and once I found a cute outfit–accessories and all I’ll take a few selfies. Call it self obsessed whatever you please, but taking a few pictures of yourself looking cute and posing will make you look and feel AWESOME! And you’ll be out of your funk in no time!! Love you and the skin your in! <3
2. Smile more!
What’s that quote or saying, ” Smile more, because you never know whose looking, and whose day you’ll brighten..” Or something along those lines, either way smiling not only will bring joy in someone elses day but to yours too. When you smile it sends messages to the your brain telling yourself I’M HAPPY (or so I read). You’re beautiful so why not show off those pearly whites and smile more. I can’t tell you how many times my husband tells me to smile, and smiling more works WONDERS in ones mood. And lets get real smiling more is truly good for the soul! When your smiling on the outside your smiling on the inside as well.
3. Change it up– Go and get your hair done!
If your anything like me I’m always up for a change. And getting my hair done is my way of changing things up. and I can’t tell you the wonders getting your hair done does for the soul.
Sometimes I feel like i’m not feeling my look anymore… so what do I do? I get a haircut maybe change my hair color or even a simple blow out. and let me tell you, just the the other day. i got a trim, changed my hair color, and after a few positive comments from my husband, friends, and strangers, i instantly felt more confident. let alone, i was so happy with the results. your self confidence will be lifted, holding your head a little higher and a smile on your face. a little color change and a fresh cut never hurt, paired with a gorgeous blow out, go on girl do your thang!!!
4. Do something good for someone else
doing good onto others as they would do onto you. doing any good deed makes us all feel good. try it sometime, no matter how big or small, any kind gesture goes a long way. Whether it be holding the door for someone or donating your clothes or food to the homeless, whatever it may be your good deed with never go unnoticed. but just the mere fact that you went out of your way to do something for someone else, will boost your self-esteem and happiness.
5. List your good qualities
i once read an article that listing your good qualities never hurt in building self esteem. when you are feeling down on yourself. Listing your good qualities only promotes positive thoughts, this couldn’t be more true. and who wouldn’t want to hear all the good that you do and all that you are as a person. one thing to remember: its never vain to appreciate and love the person you are inside and out.
6. Treat Yo’ self!
I’m a firm believer in treating yourself once in awhile. I mean don’t go overboard, but i mean you work hard on the daily so you should take the time to reward yourself every so often. Whether it be getting a manicure+pedicure, buying new clothes, a new book, whatever it may be do it! fully enjoy these moments, because you earned it and you should be proud of yourself and your hard work.
7. List all your accomplisments and future goals
it never hurts to look back and relish in all of your accomplishments you’ve earned over the years. never lose sight of those moments, and be proud of those moments. in the same respect, list your goals for the future, it’s always good to keep your future plans in prospective so you know what you’re working towards.. remember to never let anyone dull your shine, and never lose sight of your dreams. these are just things i’ve learned even though i’ve had my struggles with this, keeping these goals and accomplishments in mind, just shows that your on the right track and are on the right path to success.. if you don’t have any, then take the time to write some, its never too late to try and try again!
8. try to lead more of a healthier balanced life
health is wealth! or at least thats what my doctor tells me or what i’ve heard. but its couldn’t be far from the truth. get up and get moving on daily. exercise, not to get skinny– but just for your overall health and mind. keeping healthy is a big attribute in building self esteem and self confidence. learn to balance life, health, and exercise, they all go hand in hand. it’s also been said that staying active releases a chemical that will leave you staying happier longer! And we all want to lead a more happier well-balanced life, don’t we ! So get moving! 🙂
9. the strength of positivity is strong
surrounding yourself with positive people is like a daily dose of sunshine all the time!! Having so much positivity in your life is so good for the soul. who wants to be sad, mad, and negative all the time, nobody got time for that!! so stay positive and surround yourself with happy people sending your only good vibes., all that happiness is uplifting and it does wonders on your soul, self esteem and definitely gives you a huge boost in your self confidence. I can’t tellyou how this has helped me, I’ve got the best support tea,m/life-long cheering squad a girl could as for, So many happy endorphines all the time 🙂
lastly,
10. Continue to do the things that make you happy
if your happy with what you do in life then stick to it. never change your dreams for someone. because in the long run you won’t be happy. there is nothing more meaningful and uplifting than staying true to yourself and doing what you love the most. and its so inspiring too. this not only makes life so much better it makes each day so much happier! 🙂
Ever been down in the dumps and had low self- esteem or didn’t have so much self- confidence what do you do for a boost?
