SFB Monday Motivation

Posted on: June 12, 2017

Hey Loves!

Happy Monday! It’s a new week, it’s time to get out there and take on the new day and what the week will bring. I want to start engaging with you more, and motivating and take you along my journey. Just as I continue on my path and journey, I’d like to take you along with me keeping you motivating and staying on course. Every week, we can help each other and motivate one another. No matter what your goals are, remember to change your focus, remain optimistic and stay positive. We will have our set back and failures, but remember you can alway get back on the horse and try again. Life isn’t a marathon its a sprint, and we are the ones in control no one else. I never said the journey would be easy but I did say that the journey would be worth it.

In life, we will face challenges, obstacles and hurdles. But it’s all part of the journey and experience. Remember to say “I can” instead of  “I can’t.” Because you can, no matter what anyone says, you can. Remember you will always have haters in life, let them. Everyone will have an opinion, everyone will judge, let them. Why? Because, they are just projecting their own insecurities and flaws onto you, because they don’t have your strength, will and determination. Plus, think about this, if you didn’t have any haters, you wouldn’t be doing something right…. In some way, shape or form, deep down, they are inspired by what you do, but because of their own insecurities they choose to hate. Why hate when we are all on working towards something, aren’t we? They choose to be negative instead being positive don’t give them the satisfaction. Don’t waste your time on the haters, don’t lose sight of your goals, keep the momentum going. Work hard, stay focus, and always be humble and grateful for all everything. Be thankful for this life you have and the life you have created. You only have one life, be good to it and it will be good to you. Take a deep breath, and enjoy everything that life offers. Enjoy life’s moments, don’t let a moment pass you by. Time doesn’t stand still, it just keeps going faster each passing year. So live in each moment that takes your breath away.

Lastly, trust and believe in your path. Trust and believe, you are on this journey for the right reasons. Make all the hard work count. Do everything with a passion and purpose. I guarantee you, it will all pay off and be worth it in the long run.

SFB Takes on NYFW FW17: Leanne Marshall

Posted on: February 13, 2017

Leanne Marshall, presented her F/W17 collection over the weekend. Influencers, tastemakers and celebrities were in attendance to see her stunning collection. Her F/W17 collection illustrated her ethereal theme with a more fierce upgrade. She incorporated some bold colors in the mix, that showed great contrast to the earth tone hues we’ve seen throughout in her previous collection. It comes to no surprise that when her collection is unveiled she takes our breathes away every time with her ever flowing, dreamy gowns. She featured a perfect blend of chiffon and sateen, with her usual blend of soft colors and a nicely added pop of red just in time for Valentine’s Day!

This season she continued with her statement long flowing dresses that not only compliment but empower the female body.  While also incorporating more chic styles with a more bolder, fierce and strong presence. The theme for her collection was resurrection, illustrating recycled materials and older fabrics in an effort to minimize the waste used in the fashion industry. A beautiful collection that illustrating and alludes to the ideas of a scorn woman that’s standing strong, bold, empowered and fierce. Aveda created the hair and make up looks for the show, showcasing a bold and vintage look paired with a pop of color on the lip to match. In the audience, you saw a mixture of celebrities, influencers and tastemakers who came to support and see her newest collection.  Spotted in the crowd were: Phaedra Parks of RHOA, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Sammi Giancola (Jersey Shore Alums), Emma Myles, Brec Bassinger, Actress Malea Rose, Reginae Carter, Miss USA Deshuana Barber, Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere, Blogger-Ellese Launer of Rock Paper Glam and many others.

Leanne Marshall is a  graduate of  The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco and not only an alum but winner of  Season Five’s Project RunwaySince Project Runway,  Marshall has relocated to New York where she continues her passion designing and has shown her creations all over the world. Celebrities such as: Paula Abdul, Julianna Hough and many more have donned the red carpet wearing her line, and it comes to no surprise why.  Her strong and inspiring presence surely stands out in the fashion world. Leanne Marshall specializes in bridal wear and ready-to-wear lines.

Without a doubt, Leanne Marshall knocked it out with her strong, fierce and bold collection this season. Bravo!  For more information and to shop her collection click here.

Holiday Style: Glitz and Glam with Julie Brown NYC

Posted on: December 16, 2016

Looking for the perfect outfit to wear to any holiday event? Continue reading and find out the details of this holiday outfit I put together.

This outfit was one of my absolute favorites, the perfect look for the holiday season. For this look I was channeling my inner Gossip Girl {so to speak}, maybe my inner Serena or Blair. I’ve been watching the beloved series again lately and this outfit made me think of the fabulous fashion that was seen on the show. I don’t know about you, but I definitely think this show should return to tv. I know, I’m not the only one to say this, am I right? Who wouldn’t love to see Serena, Blair, Chuck, Dan and the whole group again!!??

Thanks to Julie Brown NYC this stunning gold top with beaded detail gives the perfect amount of sparkle and shine for the holiday season. It gives the outfit the allure of all the glitz and glam one would want in an outfit for the holidays. I paired it with this silk black accordion skirt by Rebecca Minkoff. For shoes, you can go either way– pair it with heels like these from Sam Edelman or even these ultra cheek black leather knee high boots by Stuart Weiztman as seen here (my favorite over the knee boots). For accessories, I wore my favorite Hermes H enamel bangle with black and gold hardware, a ring from Chloe and Isabel and my Givenchy Envelope clutch. The perfect clutch for any occasion! This look was so easy to put together and definitely an outfit that can be worn for any special occasion. I wore this outfit to a Holiday Birthday party for one of my fellow blogger friends. The perfect outfit for an amazing evening!!

ANNIESA HASIBUAN NYFW SS17

Posted on: September 30, 2016

Anniesa Hasibuan’s show was simply captivating and moving. At the young age of 28, Hasibuan was the first Indonesian designer to showcase her collection at NYFW. This show has been heard all over the world, and with good reason. History was made in New York at NYFW, for she was the first Indonesian designer to present her collection, where the hijab made its debut on the catwalk. Featuring colorful headscarves in pink, silver and gold. The hijab was styled with eye catching jackets, gowns, colorful silk and patterned tunics, velvets and brocades adorned with pearls and sequins. All handcrafted and beaded with precise detail and care. Anniesa Hasibuan’s collection was inspired by her hometown Jakarta. The final outfit was the most gorgeous showstopper that left the audience stunned. It was truly inspiring to see a young designer like Anniesa Hasibuan present at NYFW. Not only inspiring but empowering, making you believe that dreams really do come true. The look of joy and happiness shined bright on her face has she walked the runway at the end of her show. The show concluded with a standing ovation, that gave me goosebumps.

I fell in love with the beaded jackets and gowns shown that evening. You can clearly see the time and effort that went into making each piece. How they were all handcrafted with the utmost love and care. Truly remarkable. I would totally rock one of those jackets any day!

[The hijab is a veil traditionally worn by Muslim women in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family, which usually covers the head and chest. The term can further refer to any head, face, or body covering worn by Muslim women that conforms to a certain standard of modesty. Hijab can also be used to refer to the seclusion of women from men in the public sphere, or it may denote a metaphysical dimension, for example referring to “the veil which separates man or the world from God”. (Wikipedia)]

Most often the hijab is worn by muslim women to display modesty and privacy. Most women are often stereotyped as disempowered, and constricted when wearing the hijab. Although, many women today choose to wear it for personal reasons. The hijab is in fact seen as a feminist statement to many. The women of the muslim culture have been neglected in the fashion industry for quite some time. But thanks to designers like Anniesa Hasibuan–she made her mark which was well received by many in the fashion industry. At the end of the show, I along with fellow blogger and friend Ellese Launer of Rock Paper Glam had the pleasure of speaking with the designer. A lovely women, with such great talents and a heart of gold. We asked, ” How long did the beading take?” And she responded, ” Quite some time, all were hand beaded and crafted.” When you speak to her, you too, will see her grace, charm and passion for fashion.

I’ll concluded with a statement Anniesa Hasibuan made to CNN, “I am so proud and thankful for everyone on the team who helped me so this event could happen, and I am thankful to international and local media from Indonesia for exposing my show. I did not realize the result can be this amazing, and I am thrilled and humbled by the welcome reaction given.” (CNN

Thank you Anniesa Hasibuan for inspiring and empowering many of us with your collection and making a huge impact on the world. Your designs are truly amazing and well respected.

If you saw the show, and if you caught my Snapchat story that evening, what were your thoughts? Comment below, I love hearing from you!
