SFB: Faith+ Positivity+ The Little Things in Life

Posted on: September 10, 2018

Life can throw us a lot of curve balls and we all continue to fight battles each and every single day. For some of us, this can deter us from moving forward, where we feel less  motivated in doing just about everything. My advice to you all and I’ve always continued to say this—–NEVER GIVE UP. Trust me I know it is easier said than done, trust me I know this all too well and I get it. Sometimes we think simple fixes can make things better, but we mustn’t look for material things or other things to make things better. It’s the little things in life that should help us keep moving forward. It’s starts with this and for some of us we underestimate how powerful this can help us. We all experience various life challenges and through these battles and difficulties we must keep our faith, and believe in the power of prayer.  I know all too well, that with all of life challenges that we go through, it’s so easy to lose our faith and hope. Sometimes our faith comes in waves because we go through all these ups and downs in life which makes us wonder and question our faith and even God. We all want the answers, we all want immediate results. But unfortunately, life doesn’t work out that way. But that doesn’t mean that things can’t happen, but not as immediate as we would like or hope.

What we must always remember, it’s all about timing and in God’s time. God hasn’t forgotten us, he is with us and he hears our prayers and thoughts, we must never forget that.  I also hold God and my faith as the number one driving force in my life that has kept me going in all aspects of my life.  In addition to the support of my love, family and friends. They have been the people in my life, the reason why I’m motivated to keep going. Like all of us, I am human, and I can be the first to admit that I have lost my faith at times. But without fail God has shown me in more ways than one that he is with me. I have lived by this scripture from 2 Corinthians 5:7 —-  I will walk by faith even when I cannot see…. I truly believe there are signs everywhere and he is with us, guiding us and showing us even when we can’t see it he is. We must remember that. What I will leave you with is,  remain strong even when it’s tough. Stay positive, even when there are things leading you to think or act otherwise. Pray for peace, pray for hope, protection to keep that positivity and good energy and vibes flowing in your life. Be kind always. Spread love in everything you do. Lastly, keep pushing, keep going. Never lose hope, never give up and never stop believing.

Here are some of my words, psalms and bible scriptures that have continued to stay with me and help me throughout my life:

I will walk by faith, even when I cannot see… 2 Corinthians 5:7

Psalms 23

Psalms 91 for Protection

Psalms 37:4

Corinthians 13-4

Psalms 46:5

Proverbs 3:1-12

Luke 11:1-54

Whatever you believe in, keep that and hold onto to that. It will help you during all of life challenges. Stay inspired, empowered, motivated and always keep the faith. Stay positive!

Have Patience and Have Faith

Posted on: August 28, 2018

Lately, I’ve been hearing about, reading and witnessing so many heartaches, deaths and just a lot of pain overall. Life currently hasn’t been easy, and I can see that we’ve all been affected by something in one way or another. But what I can say is that if you get up each and everyday, your trying at least. Sometimes we can be too hard or too critical of ourselves, but we are trying. Even though at times it seems like everything is crashing like a ton of bricks and we just can’t seem to bare it anymore. If I’ve learned anything thus far in my 33 years of life, it’s to NEVER GIVE UP.

A few days ago, I met a lovely woman who spoke to me about her struggles and difficulties that she’s experienced over this past year. She’s torn because she’s leaving her current home to relocate and live with her parents as she tries to recovery and win her fight to cancer. As we chatted for a bit, she was telling me how disappointed she was with herself because at her age she didn’t see this life for herself. She wasn’t too thrilled to move back home and live with her parents. Not that she wasn’t or isn’t happy to see her family, but thats not where she physically wants to be. She imagined her life looking different. She saw herself  married, with kids possibly, and both her and her spouse would be growing and building their lives together. But instead, life hit her hard. She was diagnosed with Cancer, and she’s been receiving Chemotherapy treatments this entire year. I definitely felt for her. Even though, there are various forms of Cancer out there, I’ve dealt with it personally in my family and with close friends. I currently have a friend whose fighting for her life right now with stage 4 cancer. Life is never easy. But I keep on hearing that God gives his strongest soldiers the toughest battles because he knows that they can and will grow and become even stronger from it. I still struggle with this statement. Because it’s something I’m still trying to understand and grasp every single day. When we hear about death, when we hear about life threatening illnesses, heartache– I ask God why did he have to take away our loved ones so soon? What is the lesson we need to learn through all this pain and turmoil. Our conversation continued as we both saw and realized we were wearing the same evil eye and hamsa macrame bracelets. Which symbolizes protection, safety and warding off evil spirits. It only goes to show how faith has been a strong presence in both our lives in all forms.

This has been a tough year to say the least for me. Some days have been harder than most, but what I can say is that I’m still alive through the grace of God, patience and my faith. I try and continue to remain strong and positive as best as I can. Even though it’s all definitely been tested time and time again. The woman I met, she said she’s learned a lot in this time as she heals and tries to fight her battle with Cancer. She said what this has taught her is to have faith but most importantly patience. That resonated with me a lot, because that’s what I’ve learned as well. Faith doesn’t make anything in life easy, but it makes it possible. We might not receive the answers or signs right away or when we want immediately, but we must continue to have faith and we must be patient. Even though we haven’t seen yet. We must walk by faith and not by sight.  Because with faith and patience anything is possible. I, too have had my share of battles and hardship like many of us.

In the latter half of 2017, I was diagnosed with Adenomyosis. It’s a rare condition that effect woman typically late in their childbearing years but can occur at any age. Sometimes there aren’t any visible signs of the condition. Many times it can go unnoticed for years. Having been diagnosed with this, my faith, my strength and patience has definitely been tested. It’s definitely taught me a lot about my own personal strength, my faith and patience.  At times I found myself lost, and just wondering , why…. It made me question a lot of things, including something that’s been very important to be which is my faith. I’ve always wanted to have a children, to have a family in general. This post has been hard for me to write, because I’ve had my share of pain and hardship with experiencing various miscarriages. The excitement to carry your own child and feel it growing inside you then have that taken away all of a sudden is beyond  any words I can express. So needless to say,  its been a difficult road to conceiving and also carrying to term, but it doesn’t mean that there isn’t hope that I won’t be able to. I haven’t lost hope which is what I’m essentially saying. I’ve weighed all the options, done my research and sought out various opinions from Medical professionals. I know many women struggle with infertility every single day. But if you read and do your research about the condition, seek out your options, and get the proper care it doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible. I just also found out that Gabrielle Union was also diagnosed with this condition as well. She’s struggled with infertility for years and many doctors couldn’t pinpoint what was wrong until now. But she has said that even having this condition, this will not stop her journey in trying to have her own children.  ( To learn more about Gabrielle Union, journey with Infertility click here). When the time is right and God blesses me or any other women with this condition, with a child,  I know that it’s not only a miracle but God’s will and his doings. Remember to do your research, know that with having this condition, if you do get pregnant, it’s perfectly safe to carry a child. Get all the facts and don’t be misinformed.  What I’ve learned about my condition, is that having a child can help me in my situation, but I leave it in Gods hands to heal me completely. Where I no longer have this tumor growing inside of me and blessed with a healthy, loving and happy family.

Living with Adenomyosis hasn’t been easy. It’s been a tough road so far, but I’m not going to let this beat me. I’m going to fight through this. I know God, my guardian Angels, family and friends have been supporting me with their love and prayers since day one. I believe in miracles so I’m going to continue to pray, have faith and have patience. This won’t beat me, and I know one day the blessings of a family, will come it’s just all in God’s hands. Going back to my conversation with the woman I met, the important and key words that came out of that conversation were to continue to: stay positive, have faith and have patience. No matter what life throws at us, we must continue to have faith, have patience and remain positive. I know it’s definitely easier said than done but trying is half the battle. When you try and when you believe your half way there.

I know with continued prayers, faith, and patience, I know God can create miracles. We may not understand it now, but I can only hope everything will fall into place and make sense eventually.  We just have to keep the faith and the positive vibes flowing.  Every situation is different and I know it can definitely be worse. So, I still continue to count my blessings and thank God every single day. Gratitude is everything. Something we need to always remember.

The strongest people aren’t those that show strength in front of us, but those that fight and win battles we know nothing about. We are all fighting a battle each and everyday. Even when the days can and seem so dim, and you feel like giving up , DON’T. Be kind, have faith, have patience, and never stop believing. Faith doesn’t make things easy, it makes them possible.

To all those fighting battles, experiencing tough times, hardships, heartaches, pain, and struggle remember to have faith and patience. God is with us all. Continue to pray, stay positive and never lose hope. Believe in miracles and fight for what you want and believe in.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. As always, thanks for reading along, following and supporting my journey.

Practicing Gratitude in Style

Posted on: August 8, 2018

Start and end each day with a grateful, loving heart. Begin your days with positive thoughts. When you do, trust and believe all that good energy and good vibes that come your way. In my opinion, remaining calm and positive in any given situation, is the way we all should live life. It’s definitely easier said than done. But trying is half the battle, but we must learn to shake off the bad and seek the good. When you shift your negative thoughts, and remain positive in any given situation, you will see a shift in your mindset and overall perspective of life. Trust, believe and always have faith.  Practice gratitude daily and you will increase your energetic vibrational frequency. Focus on the positive, even when some days are harder than most. Set the tone, not just for your days but as a whole. Stand strong and always #hustleandheart. Gratitude is a powerful process of shifting your energy and bringing more of what you want into your life. Be grateful for what you already have and you will attract more good things.  We’re all fighting battles that many of us don’t know about–so be kind, be grateful always, and above all never lose faith and hope. No matter what we all are facing, we still must be grateful and thankful for the blessings of each and everyday. Keep the good vibes flowing!

No Beauty Shines brighter than that of a Good Heart

Posted on: March 29, 2018

“A woman with a voice, is by definition a strong woman.”

Take delight in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your Heart. Psalm 37:4

I hope everyone is having a great week so far. This post I’m sharing today is about finding strength, trusting it, reflection and having a good heart. In life, we all go through things that many of us can’t explain or don’t even understand. Sometimes, things happen in our lives, that is so unexpected, heartbreaking and life changing that it effects us in so many different ways. I, myself have been going through a very painful time in my life. Something so painful I wouldn’t wish this kind of pain on anyone. They say that pain changes people. There are two types of pains, one that hurts you and the other that changes you. It can make a person trust less, overthink more and sometimes even shut people out. Pain can also be a motivator for finding strength.

During this time of reflection, heartache, soul searching and guidance through my faith. I’ve seen myself struggle through the pain. I see that pain has changed me in a way where I was at a point where I’ve doubted others and myself. I’ve seen how my pain has hurt me to the core. I’ve even been at a point where I’ve completely shut people out. Not that it was on purpose, not that I didn’t or haven’t valued them, their care or advice. But I couldn’t bare to have my pain and hurt drown in them too. When one experiences pain of this nature, the only natural and human reaction is to feel alone. Leaving you with much doubt –where you begin to question every little thing.

Please know this,  TRUST and BELIEVE if you’re going through any kind of pain or hurt you’re not alone. Even though it feels like you are, you aren’t. I tell myself this everyday, because I still struggle with this from time to time. I also know that it’s easier said than done. What I have learned is that we can’t never allow the pain or hurt to let us lose ourselves in the process. Repeat after me, I matter, I am important and I am enough. These are things I say to myself everyday, although it can be a struggle I still manage to say, believe and repeat it. But hey, trying is half the battle. Sure, I have my moments of sadness, and it’s perfectly normal. Let it out, it’s healthy. We all need a good cry here and there. If we don’t let it out, one of these days you may just explode with an overflow of emotions. But little by little, let it out. Let yourself feel through the pain and hurt. This isn’t something you can prepare yourself for, it’s also isn’t something you can just wake up the next day and just say ok I’m over it. It’s a process, an ebb and flow of ups and downs. Everyday is different. Some days will be good and some days will not be and that’s perfectly fine.

Reflection and Coping….

I reflect, I grieve and I have my ways of coping through it all. We all find ways to deal and cope with things.  I’ve truly appreciated my small inner circle and family for their support, guidance and love during this time. You find that during these times of struggle, you find out whose truly in your corner and by your side.  As far as my time, I try and use my time in a productive way. Whether its keeping myself occupied with work, family, friends or other activities that I enjoy. For instance, I have a passion and love for singing, I have since gotten back into singing, joined a choir and have done a few open mic nights. I found that it has been a way of release and a means to keep my mind off of the pain for the moment in time. I’ve also had the honor and pleasure to guest speak at various business events. Although I’m going through this very painful and tough time in my life, I’d still like to be an advocate and use my voice as a means for positive change and for me its a way to help others and give back, which is my mission and life’s purpose. It truly warms my heart to be able to inspire and empower men and women through this platform. To provide a sense of hope, encouragement and positivity through the lenses of style, beauty, lifestyle as well as real life situations. I hope that my voice, experiences, businesses and words of wisdom provide a sense comfort and strength to all. As well as be a means for positive change not just for ourselves but as a whole.

Let your coping mechanisms be positive and constructive. Don’t let them be ways where it will lead you further down the rabbit whole. If you need to, seek advice from family, your inner circle or even professional help, do so.  Releasing the pain and hurt helps, even if it’s only in the moment it’s conducive to the process. If you can write about it, writing can be very cathartic and helpful too. Let it all out, even if you find yourself getting emotional, LET IT OUT. And remember this is your pain, you’re the one going through this. No matter what advice or what anyone says to you, although the intentions may be for your benefit, this is your process. You handle and you go through the motions how you see fit for yourself. Also, remember to love yourself through it all. Be kind, be gentle to yourself. You’re going through a lot, so don’t be too hard on yourself especially if your trying. Love yourself first and foremost. Take care of you.

Above all, trust and believe that you have the strength, it’s within you.  That voice inside you, that is your inner strength, listen to it. Let it guide and help you through the pain. Sometimes in life, we can’t explain why things happen the way they do. No matter how painful it may be. I can confidently say that I know I’m a good woman, with a good heart and only the purest intentions. But what I have also learned that having a good heart can also cause a tremendous amount of pain and hurt. One thing that I know for sure, I may be going through a tough time now. BUT, this will never stop me from being the woman that I am. No matter how much love and care you have in your heart and even with your good intentions, sometimes not everyone is equipped to handle it, or even grow with you. That’s the tough part, but hey not everyone has the capacity to love the way you love, realize it or see the good, even if it’s starring them right in the face. Sometimes you may be too much goodness and heart that others don’t have the capacity to hold on to it, cherish it and know how to take care of it. I’m content in knowing not to expect a lot in return. But also knowing what I deserve. Even though I know that what I have already matters and I can see the growth potential in all aspects. Not to say you shouldn’t have any expectation but having less expectations saves you from an immense amount of pain. If that makes any sense at all.

Food for thought….

This is what I do know. Here’s the thing about people with good hearts. They give you excuses when you don’t explain yourself. They accept apologies you don’t give. They see the best in you when you don’t need them to. At your worst, they lift you up, even if it means putting their priorities aside. The word “busy” does not exist in their dictionary or vocabulary. They make time, even when you don’t. And you wonder why they’re the most sensitive people. You wonder why they’re the most caring people. You wonder why their existence is not so essential to your well-being. It’s because they don’t make you work hard for the attention they give you. They accept the love they think they’ve earned and you accepted the love you think you’re entitled to. Let me tell you something. Fear the day when a good heart gives up on you. Our skies don’t become grey out of no where. Our sunshine does not allow the darkness to take over for no reason. A heart does not turn cold unless it’s been treated with coldness for awhile. That’s truth and honesty in a nutshell. That’s not bitterness, that true, honest words from someone with a good heart. We don’t just love, we love hard, unconditionally, wholeheartedly and immensely. Find the strength within you to know, no matter what pain can do to you never lose sight of your good heart and pure intentions. Never let pain make you bitter. Turn pain into strength. The road of pain and hurt isn’t easy by no means. Always remember your good heart, you’re a good person and you have the power to be strong, it’s always been inside of you. Never lose sight of your strength and your good heart.

Breathe, and let it go….

Life throws us curve balls, things we can’t explain. They are either there to test us or to strengthen us or even both. I’ve been told that God gives his strongest souls the most challenging feats in life because he knows they can handle it and they will prevail. This hasn’t been easy by no means. But with the grace of God and my faith, I still haven’t lost hope. Turn to your faith and let that be your strength and let that empower you through this time.

Breathe, and let it go. If it’s meant to be it will find it’s way. I firmly believe that. Maybe we’re all experiencing some form of pain for a reason. Sometimes we have to struggle a little to find the deeper meaning behind the message. If you believe in something so much, then keep your faith and find strength through it. When there’s a will there’s a way.  If you’re going through any pain or hurt, remember you’re not alone. I’m here for you. It’s never easy, I’m still going through it. We can remind ourselves of our strengths, our faith and our good hearts. Through it all, we can empower ourselves to find hope, light and positivity through our time of struggle.

Remember to never lose faith, never lose hope, never stop believing and never give up! You’re a good soul, a dope soul with a good and pure heart of gold. Never forget that!

Positivity, Confidence, Strength and Self Improvement

Posted on: August 30, 2017

It’s a new day, new week! In this post, as I’ve always been authentic, honest and open to you all, this post will give you more insight on me and what I’ve been struggling through lately. I also want to mention, that at this point in my life, I believe that in this current state of being, I’m trying to transform myself into a better person overall. Not to say that I’m not a good person now, I know and believe I am. But we all can find ways to improve in ourselves as a whole.  I believe that with transformation, change for the better is a good thing. It may be scary and challenging in the moment. But change within oneself is good, and its good for the soul as well. I believe it can strengthen your mind, body and soul.

In regards to my blog, I still want to and plan to inspire, empower, encourage, and enlighten you through all facets of life.  I’ll continue to empower you while also giving you more insight on my life and me, but ultimately my goal is to strengthen myself, and I hope to continue to do the same for you all as well through this process. I firmly believe in this, while maintaining a positive outlook on life accompanied with a can do attitude, anything is possible. I truly believe that. In doing so, I’d also like to take you on this journey of mine of self improvement.  While I continue to do all those things, I will continue to learn, grow and evolve throughout the process. For me this is a time for reflection, healing, renewing and finding myself again in more ways that I ever thought possible. My goal is to become a better version of myself while continuing to meet my goals and aspirations. I encourage each and every one of you to do so. It can be scary but remember, you are trying, and that’s the first step. Never stop trying to be a better version of yourself, it can only help you in the long run.

What I’m about to tell you may shock many people, but I’m being even more open with you and myself.  I’m bearing myself to the core. Which at times as been a challenge for me. The first step is admitting it, grasping it and willing to change for the better. Finding perspective, and a better sense of self to ultimately feel renewed as a whole.

In the last couple of months, I lost a sense of myself. I started to lose my strength, faith and confidence due to certain things in my life. No one is to blame but myself for allowing myself to feed into insecurities that we all face. For me, I believe myself to be a pretty strong, confident woman, but sometimes I to can falter. Which is what has happened.  But I feel that I’ve found a sense of maturity and humility in admitting that to myself and to you all.  I started to doubt myself and I allowed my insecurities to overcome me. I’m human, I’m not perfect, but this has to be the lowest point in my life right now.  In turn, I didn’t like what I saw in myself,  I knew I needed to make a change. During this time, I’ve been able to reflect and see all these things.  It’s given me time to reevaluate, reflect on everything that transpired in the last couple of months.  Today, I looked at myself in the mirror and I saw ME. I started to recite these affirmations to myself:

I am Bold

I am Beautiful

I am Brave

I am Confident

I am Courageous

I am Capable

I am Strong

I am Enough and I will Never Give Up

I have the strength, to renew myself and my faith to become a better version of ME

I am by no means perfect, I am a work in progress. We all are, every day is a chance to start again, and start anew. Everyday I find myself getting stronger. I believe that tough times and struggles can make you a stronger person. I just continue to believe, remain hopeful and keep my faith that it will all get better soon.

As I recited that to myself, I felt myself becoming stronger. I know this won’t happen overnight, but it’s a start, it’s a process. But I believe in it and I have faith in it. I believe and can see a change in me. I feel that this will be a good thing overall. It will in turn strengthen not only myself but other aspects in my life as well. I want to encourage and inspire you all to do this for yourself. Even when we may think we don’t need to improve, we all can find areas for improvement. In the long run, self improvements can be helpful in many ways. It’s good for all of us. Believe that, and believe in yourself. This has been the hardest post to write, but it’s real, it’s honest and true. I truly believe we are all a work in progress, but I truly believe we all can benefit from this. I know in myself, that it’s been beneficial for me to see myself and see my confidence and strength come back. Join the journey with me, and take time for yourself as well. Remember, self love is important too. See what you find, and how it can help you as a whole and in your life.

I’m believing in the process. With hope and my strong faith I will trust the journey and I know I’m committed to change. As well as find that renewed strength and confidence in myself as I did before. This post is by no means to boast, or whatsoever. It’s a means to share a little more about myself, motivating myself and all of you at the same time. To provide some positive affirmations that have been helpful for me and that can be useful to you too. Remember to always  know your worth, your purpose and true potential.

Always remember to stay positive and optimistic. Don’t be too hard yourself, because at the end of the day your trying your very best. I believe that I am trying my best and I’ll continue to work very hard at it and continue to push through. It takes a lot of courage to stay strong and push through during tough times, but in the end I know I’m becoming a stronger person daily, and I believe and I have faith everything will work out. I believe in you all too!

I hope you found this post helpful in some way. If ever you feel lost, or doubt yourself look deep down inside.  Reflect and remember we are all human, we aren’t perfect, we all have our flaws. But we can find ways to make improvements for the better. What I’ve also found for me that has been helpful is: reading, staying close to my faith, singing, listening to music, putting my energy into my businesses, working out, taking walks and writing have been very therapeutic and beneficial.

What are ways that have helped you pick yourself up? Please do share, I love hearing from you all. I truly believe when we share ideas and thoughts we in turn can help one another become a better version of ourselves.

Have an amazing week loves! Continue to stay motivated, inspired and empowered. Much love and blessings to you all.

As always, thanks for reading, following along and joining the journey!

SFB Gets Personal: New Year, New Me: Resolutions and Goals for 2017

Posted on: December 26, 2016

Hi Loves!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. I hope it was filled with much love, happiness and joy. The holidays for me were spent with family and friends on the West coast. It was great to see family that my husband and I hadn’t seen in quite some time. As well as, spend some quality time with our immediate family too. As I’ve mentioned before, the holidays and the time of the year, gives me all sorts of the feels, and every year I’m filled with many emotions. Mostly good ones but as I’ve said the holidays and the time of the year always gives me the feels. In just a few days, we turn the page and close the book to 2016 and welcome the new year. Although 2016 was a year filled with much success, love, new friendships, and amazing memories I’m ready to welcome 2017 and see what it has to offer. One of the new things I will add to my blog is a section where I get a little more personal with you al. Although, I feel like I get pretty personal already, I wanted all of you to get to know me a little more. So, for 2017 I will get a little more personal and share more of my life with you all. While also continuing to inspire, enlightened and empower you.

With 2017 just days away, I don’t know about you but I always like to set goals for myself for the new year. Some may refer to them as resolutions, but I like to make goals for myself. Goals that are realistic, positive and ones that will be good for me in the long run. I hope you all can join me and set some goals for yourself as well. We’re all in this together, right?! Set goals that are realistic, ones that you do for you.

Here are my Resolutions/Goals for 2017:

  1. Don’t sweat the small stuff
  2. Try more New Things
  3. Make more time for family and friends
  4. Explore more
  5. Make time for “Me” time
  6. Live more in the moment and never let a day pass you by
  7. Stay fit, Be active and Stay Healthy
  8. Don’t let work get the best of me and know when to step away
  9. Continue to be inspired, enlightened and empowered
  10. Continue to be Happy 🙂

Get to know me more, reasons behind the goals and resolutions:

One of the things many don’t know, and I will admit is that I wear my heart on my shoulders. I’m human, and someone who cares and one who has a big heart. And at times, I can let me emotions get the best of me. I often let things get to me more so than they should. I tend to “sweat” (so to speak) the small stuff and let it get the best of me. But for 2017, I will try my best to not to be bothered by things so easily and to not sweat the small stuff.

Sometimes, I can get too involved in my work (because I love what I do, and feel very passionate about it) that I don’t know when to step away. For 2017, I will learn to make more time for myself, my husband, my family and friends. Work will always be there, and I will remain dedicated to my life’s passion, while also making more time for the people I love and care about. I’ll also know when to turn the phone off and step away. For 2017, I will be more conscientious to turn off and step away ( the phone and computer and from work). I’ll live more in the moment and never let anything pass me by.

As a blogger,  avid photo taker and IGer– I will admit that I have become overly obsessed in trying to get the “perfect shot.” Sometimes, I will admit I strive for perfection way too much. But I’ve also learned that it’s  ok to not be so perfect. I mean, imperfections is what makes us all unique in our own way. So, maybe I won’t have the perfect photo every time, that’s ok by me. For 2017, I will learn to love my imperfections while continuing to stay true to myself.

I’ve always lived by the rule: It’s ok to indulge one in awhile. But like many of us, I too can get carried away with that saying. But I’m turning the tables and getting back on track. I truly believe that 2017 is my year, and the year for all of us. For 2017, I will commit to staying fit, being active and healthy. We only have one life and body so we gotta treat it right, right?! So whose with me?

I like to call myself an adventurous soul, who loves learning and trying new things. I want to continue this for the new year and years to come. I don’t want to limit myself and I want to be more open to new things. So for 2017, I will continue to be open to trying and learning new things.

And lastly, although I characterize myself as a very happy and content person. I always set this goal for myself every year. There were times in my life where I wasn’t so happy and content, but I left those dark days behind me and have been so much happier ever since. I mean it’s not hard to stay happy when you have the love of your life by your side, great friends who are like family and family whose been by my side through and through. So for 2017, I’ll continue to be happy and I hope my happiness can add sunshine to your lives too!

I look forward to sharing more about myself with you all, more on beauty, fashion, lifestyle and travel, and continue to inspire, empower and enlighten you in 2017! Let’s make 2017 AMAZING!!

What are your goals/resolutions for 2017?

As always, thanks for reading, following along and supporting me in my journey!

Tis’ the Season!

It’s the holiday season, a time to give thanks, to celebrate, a time for hope, love, peace and joy. But most importantly its the season for giving. I’ve mentioned this before, this season always gives me all sorts of the feels and when you continue reading you’ll see another reason why it gives me all the feels. Good ones too!

I’ve been a fan of this duo and their Youtube family for many years now. I stumbled upon Judy’s beauty videos many years ago and even then she was very relatable with many useful beauty tips and tricks. Then, I started watching her daily vlogs and fell in love with both Judy and Benji and the love they share. When they had their kids (who are the absolute CUTEST) their daily vlogs turned into a wholesome family vlog that I would tune into daily. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Judy and Benji in person and they are exactly the same as they are in their vlogs and so much more. They’re so sweet and down to earth, just a good wholesome people. When you meet them and see all they do it’s hard not to fall in love with them and their family. I truly admire all they do for their kids and for others. The values and morals they’ve taught their 3 girls are all things I hope to be when I’m a parent one day.

In the spirit of giving back, Benji and Judy do so much for their community and to those in need. Every December for the past 5 year, Benji and Judy began this annual fundraiser called #Dancember raising awareness and giving back to their chosen cause. During their 24 hour broadcast, they dance to raise awareness and and funds for that particular cause/organization/mission. Each year it’s gotten bigger and bigger and it just warms my heart that I can be part of this amazing fundraiser and so can you. This year once again they are giving back to Convoy of Hope. Convoy of Hope is an organization that helps those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting. This year, during their annual 24 hour broadcast Benji and Judy along with friends and family hope to raise $500,000 to help feed 50,000 children. This years live broadcast was on December 17th, and if you’ve seen this years live feed and years prior you’ll see, feel all sorts of emotions, fun, and want to be part of the cause as well as see all the good that comes out of the event. If you’ve seen this Youtube duo and this cause before, then you know all they do is simply spectacular. You too can give back, just think $10 dollars can go a long way. Think about it, your donations can help feed children in need, starving, and impoverished. It’s the season of giving, let’s all come together and help Benji and Judy get to their goal of $500,000 to feed 50,000 children . They are 87% away from their goal. Know that your donations are going towards a good cause and it will help so many children in need. See all the good Benji, Judy, family, friends and all of you have done and can do, click the videos below.

I hope this post inspired you to continue to be all you can be and to believe in the power of giving. I hope the spirit of this holiday season is enlightening, inspiring and empowering. Sending you all warmth, peace, love and joy this holiday season!

Friends giving 2016

Posted on: December 1, 2016

friendsgiving

This year my husband and I hosted our 3rd annual Friendsgiving. An evening filled with lots of laughs, love and a whole lot of food. We definitely feasted that evening. I may have gone a little overboard on the food–let’s just say that  it was enough to feed an army. Another fact about me:  I enjoy hosting, entertaining, cooking and creating recipes to share with everyone. All I can say is that it was worth it and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. To be honest, I didn’t take many photos from the evening, why you ask? Although, I enjoy capturing all of life’s moments. I simply wanted to enjoy the evening with our friends and take in the moment. If you follow me on Snapchat (SocFashBeaut17) then you saw a glimpse of the festivities. I love this time of the year, it gives me all kinds of feels. It made me realize even more how blessed, grateful and thankful my husband and I are for family and friends.

Before every Friendsgiving I also prep before the evening. I think of the menu, tablescape and home decor for the evening. My go to source for inspiration is Pinterest. Pinterest is a great resource for all sorts of things, definitely a website to check out if you haven’t already. As for the invitations I make sure to send them out way in advance to give our guest ample time to make work out their schedules. I love a good handwritten letter any day. I’m all about personal notes and touches. But since we live in a Social Media and Tech day in age my go to source to send out invitations is via Evite. It’s user friendly, it has a variety of invitation templates to choose from and your guest will receive your invite instantly via email. Simple, fast and easy. Our theme for the evening was Chic Holiday Glam using accents of Silver and Gold. I love having fresh flowers and candles to add to the table. Fresh roses are beautiful, they smell great and they make for a great centerpiece for any table spread. Candles add a nice touch to your tablescape and home decor. Giving off that intimate and homey feel.  I added some glitter pine cones, votive candle holders, gourds and painter hurricanes. With little accents here and there, I kept the tablescapes and decor simple, elegant and chic.

For the Appetizer Table: I added a few gourds to the table I thought they fit perfectly for Fall and our Friendsgiving theme. I filled some silver painted hurricanes with old wine corks and filled red mason jars with flowers to complete the table spread.

For the Main Dining Table: I had fresh flowers in low vases and glass hurricanes with floating candles as the main centerpieces. I added a few glitter pine cones as table accents.

Most of my tablescape decor came from: Michaels, Party City, Pier 1, Target, and Home Goods.

This year, we welcomed old and new friends and family to our home. Our Friendsgiving was filled with many fond moments that we can add to the book of memories we’ve compiled over the years. After eating, we enjoyed some laughs, drank wine and played a few fun rounds of Charades. All in all the evening was fun and enjoyable. We thank everyone who came and enjoyed the evening with us. We’re thankful, grateful and blessed to have you all in our lives. Thankful to see another year and share a wonderful evening with friends who’ve become family. Our hearts are overjoyed with so much love and I know how tummies were filled and stuffed with delicious food. Thankful, grateful and happy to end 2016 on a good note and with more memories to cherish forever. May we continue to celebrate the good times in our lives together in the years to come.

What are you thankful for this year?

As always, thanks for reading, following along and supporting me in my journey.

Candi for a Cause

Posted on: October 24, 2016

I’m a huge supporter and fan of inspiring and empowering others however I can. This is one of the reasons why I joined the Chloe + Isabel and opened up my own C+I business and boutique.

Chloe + Isabel is a jewelry lifestyle brand empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs through our innovative social retail opportunity. A real sisterhood that has definitely empowered me in so many ways. I’m proud and happy to be part of the C+I family. With it being “SFB Motivational Monday” I wanted to tell you about our Candi for a Cause collection and what it’s all about.

Back in the Spring of 2016 we launched our: #Candi for a Cause collection.  The collection  benefitted the cause ” I AM THAT GIRL.”Helping girls turn self-doubt into self – empowerment. Which is what Chloe and Isabel is all about and something I strongly believe in. I love meeting fellow #Girlbosses. It’s truly inspiring, when we can empower and support one another. Remember we all have goals, dreams and aspirations let’s come together and empower one another. Here’s a quote that a friend passed along to me: “Girls compete with each other, Women empower one another.”

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, our Candi for a Cause collection will benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation.  Did you know? 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The numbers seem to be growing each year. It truly devastating, but with your support and help, maybe we can help those in need and beat the odds thru early detection test and education. It would mean the world to me if you would support the cause.  I’ve lost close relatives to breast cancer and know people near and dear to me diagnosed with it. Help me, help them and many others and let’s take a stand against cancer.

Our Candi for a Cause collection features a variety of  jeweled charm necklaces paired with different affirmations on them: Love, Peace, Brave, Believe, Faith, and Dream. With each purchase you can help a woman today. Each charity charm necklace holds a special meaning, with proceeds benefiting causes central to our mission of empowering women to achieve their dreams.

Wedding Wednesday Series: Love bares no boundaries.. The Heartbreaking Fairytale wedding story: Rowden and Liezl

Posted on: May 14, 2016

For many couples, they are overjoyed, excited, basically filled with every emotion possible when that moment happens…. When your longtime sweetheart ask you to be his wife. It’s a long awaited moment bringing two people together to become one.  After watching this video, I couldn’t help but cry because it was so sad yet so touching all at the same time.

Rowden and Liezl planned to marry on July 8th, 2014, on his 30th birthday. In the midst of the planning their upcoming nuptials, the couple found out that Rowden was diagnosed with stage IV liver cancer. Rowden’s last request was to marry Liezl. With the help of his family, friends, and the Philippine General Hospital, Rowden received his dying wish.

On his deathbed, he said “I Do” do Liezl for all his family, friends, and the hospital to witness. Sadly, on June 8th 2014, Rowden passed away, less than 10 hours after his wedding. His memory lives on with his wife, his family and friends. He passed away with this unforgettable moment that he and Liezl shared.

My condolences goes out to his wife Liezl, his family and friends. This video was so touching and heartfelt.  Rowden is no longer suffering, and he is survived by his wife Leizel May, daughter Zakiah Rowzel, mother Lorelei, and brothers Hasset & Hisham. May he rest in peace.

Rowden’s brother Hasset Go shared this video that went viral. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVocnNIgKwY&feature=youtu.be

( I do not own the rights to this video)

Watching this and hearing their story really touched my heart. It made me think about love and all its possibilities. It also made me think about my faith too. The bond that two people share, and the love that’s within two people is so powerful, that against all odds Love shines through. Though Rowden got his dying wish, by marrying Liezl, he still lost his fight to cancer. Cancer is such a deadly killer and I hope one day we can find a cure for all cancers so we won’t lose the ones we love so soon.

This story was so touching, I had to share it with you all for my Wedding Wednesday series.  Against all odds, love is out there for all of us, Even in our last moments, love happens. I hope this story and video touched your heart and inspired your souls as it did for me.  Never lose faith on love, it’s out there. Never lose hope, for Rowden didn’t. Even though he was dying, he still married the love of his life. He remains now, the guardian angel for his wife and his family always looking down and watching over them.

Remember that even when the going gets tough, and your stressed to the bone with all the wedding planning, remember why you’re marrying your partner. Why did love happen for you? Amidst everything, never lose sight on your love and its’ meaning. Every love story has a something unique, for Rowden and Lizel, they had a fairytale love, that will last in their hearts and minds forever. What does your love story tell…….

What would you do for love?

What gives you hope? What inspires you most when it comes to love?

Please share your thoughts and comments, I’d love to hear from you!

XO,
