SFB Beauty: My Jade Roller Obsession

If you catched my Instagram post about my latest beauty obsession, you’ll know that I’m loving/obsessing over this best kept beauty secret. My beauty tool obsession: The Jade Roller. This ancient Chinese beauty tool has become a big phenomenon in today’s beauty world. The jade roller has been around for centuries, predominately in China used by the rich and elite but has become popular and mainstream in the last year or two. I’ve been using my jade roller for the last 2 years, and I’m ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED.  Many celebrities, bloggers and Youtube vloggers have been using the Jade roller and can’t stop raving about the amazing results

I’ve said this time and time again, especially since I’ve entered into my 30s, I’ve been paying more attention to my skin and all my skincare needs. I’ve also taken early preventative action to keep my skin looking youthful, radiant, hydrated and free from any premature wrinkles. Similar to crystals, the jade stone has been known to have some healing properties too. It’s proven to help with anti-aging, as well as cool, tighten, and depuff your face in seconds. The concept behind Jade Rolling is similar to that of derma-rolling (which I’ll share my experiences in another post) but more gentle with way more healing properties and benefits. It helps increase stimulation, drains congested lymph nodes, rids the body of toxins/waste, stimulates collagen production, helps with sinus issues, balance chi, while also taking care of any under eye problems you may be experiencing.

Here’s how:

  •  Keep your Jade Roller (this is the one I have) in the fridge. The stone is naturally cold, but it works best when the stones are cooled and it feels quite refreshing.
  •  Put eye cream under your eyes or directly on the smaller end of your Jade Roller. Use your Jade Rolling with your eye cream– this will help concentrate and moisturize your eye cream into your skin. To reduce any fine lines, dark circles or puffiness.
  • In a similar motion when using your fingers do the same technique but with the jade roller. Concentrate going from the inside to outside corner of the eye, pressing down towards the ear.
  •  Repeat on each eye a few times, twice a day. Use the larger end of your roller on the rest of your face/neck.
  • Use the large end to roller upward along the sides of your face and cheeks to promote circulating, repeat this process on each side 10 to 12 times.
  • Repeat the same process on your forehead creating a half moon motion to relieve and soothe any pain or headaches you may experience.

BEAUTY + HEALTH: COCONUT CRAZE!

Hey Loves, how are you? I hope everyone is having a great week so far!! I can’t complain, the weather is gorgeous in New York City now, and when the weather is on point, it does wonders for my mood and overall well-being. But for today’s post I want to talk about beauty + health. And in addition to my skin care routine and products here is another contributor to aiding in my overall health as well as having radiant skin.

As of late, I’ve been getting asked a lot of questions in regards to my skin. Everyone has been asking and saying that my skin looks FLAWLESS…. I’m my worst critic when it comes to my skin, because it’s come a long way to get to where it is today. But, nonetheless I appreciate the love, even  though I know I have flaws here and there. There you’ll find a list of my MUST HAVE products that I use and that have helped keep my skin hydrated, moisturized and glowing all year round.

As much as I LOVE make- up, my husband calls me a make up junkie. I love trying and testing out new products whether its drugstore or high end, I all about it. But there are times where I love having a bare face. The feeling of wearing no making is truly amazing too. I like to give my skin a break too from all the products and just let it breathe every now and then. So what do I do to get radiant, glowing, healthy, hydrated skin, you ask???? I’ve preached about this to so many of my friends and family, because there are so many benefits from it. And not just beauty wise but for our overall health. As much as I’m big on beauty + fashion, I’m a huge advocate on staying healthy and leading a healthy life however I can. I mean think about it, we only have one body, so we might as well treat it right, right..?? Remember health is wealth and I believe in that 100%.  So, I try to eat as best as I can, eating and choosing mostly natural and organic products. I’m big on feeding my husband, myself, family and friends only the healthiest, nutritious and oh so delicious types of foods. Being healthy overall, does wonders on your body and soul. And it goes a long way!

Here’s what I like to incorporate in my cooking, health and more….. I’ve always been a huge fan of coconuts, and my love for coconuts goes way back into my childhood days. I remember when my family and I would visit the motherland– The Philippines and we’d make a pit stops before heading to the province from Manila and my dad would get us all fresh coconuts from a local vendor. Straight from the tree, so organic and refreshing. And since then my love for coconuts has grown over the years. I make sure to stock up the fridge with a few bottles of coconut water for the week. And my all time favorite coconut water is by: Harmless Harvest. All natural and organic, and every time I sip on this water, I remember those days back in the Philippines when I had my first experience with fresh coconut water, straight from the tree to my mouth. You can’t get more fresh and organic than that.

 In addition to drinking coconut water, I also LOVE snacking on raw coconut meat.
